Last minute trip help

Im trying to throw together a day trip to the coast to target puppy drum and trout either Monday or Tuesday next week. Right now I’m thinking of hitting fort fisher, only because I’ve been there a few times but with no luck. If I can make the trip happen I will be in a kayak. Does anybody have any pointers for the fort this time of year or a suggestion for a better place to go. I have a few mirrolures and soft plastics to use for bait. I would absolutely love to catch a puppy drum, and would be open to meeting up with other folks from the forum if anybody is interested.

I'm in Wilmington, I only fish offshore but I know a few Indore guys... I'll ask.

From my charter captain friend:
He should have plenty of places down near ft Fisher, I'm not sure about where, been busy to south the and haven't been there in awhile, tell him to ask the guys at island tackle in CB they'll know exactly.

Thanks for the replies. In Harkers Island would there likely be sheepshead around the bridge? I have also been looking at google maps around Nee Bern and Havelock. There looks to be a ramp on Hancock creek. Is that ramp still open and is the fishing any good there.
