Anybody know of a walk in supply place to buy threading Inserts close to Charlotte. I also need more tool holders for a quick change tool post.
Just about everything there is mail order only.I believe there are a few Grainger stores near/in charlotte.
Well that sucks. Long ago there used to be stores that you could just walk Into and get things.Just about everything there is mail order only.
I tried to buy 3 bolts from Fastenal about a year ago. Have to buy 500. No more walk in. All about mass distribution. Supposedly there was a place off Clanton road. No clue if they are still there.Well that sucks. Long ago there used to be stores that you could just walk Into and get things.
You look at Fastenal?
Does the one local to you have carbide inserts. I've got a couple tool holders then I need inserts for but not sure what to order.Check for local industrial supply houses. My local one in Sanford (Cruco) stocks some tooling.
Online - Travers Tool and MSC both have a pretty good inventory. You can buy lower quality tooling from Amazon too.
McMaster also has tooling, and it's pretty good quality. Fast shipment too.
The place off Clanton Rd was 1 block from my office - used to go in there a lot but they closed a few years back.I tried to buy 3 bolts from Fastenal about a year ago. Have to buy 500. The lathe actually came with one. With about 200 little grinding disc and 100 or so burr bits.If you really want to get trick, look into thread milling. You can do it with a tool post grinder (which is a great lathe accessory to have too).
Cool deal. I made an order for some threading inserts 11 and 16s. I'll tell you what's impossible to find right now is the little flag type torx keys.I have a MSC resale account if you need anything
But walking in to a place, Travelers might have some
Thing about lathe inserts, there are literally millions. ID the type of insert and go from there.
That's the info I needed about the Duncan store.WT Tool off of Clanton Road in Charlotte has been closed for several years.
As stated above, Travers Tool has their corporate distribution center and a retail store right off I-85 in Duncan, SC. Pretty much everything in their catalog is avaliable there.
