it seems that my lcps reset is almost at the end of the trigger, is this normal?

Both my older one and my newer 'custom' have a fake reset about 1/2 way out and then actually reset about 3/4 of the way out (moving toward the front of the trigger guard).

Had? yea, ever since I went out on @Cape Fear 's new party boat and fell overboard I've lost everything.

Fake reset? To bad they are not worth anything or I'd get rid of it.

It's a "getoffme" gun. Used in the close quarters scenario for which it was designed, you won't be shooting to reset. If that was the only complaint, I'd keep it. There aren't a whole lot of mainstream choices at that size and weight. They all have their own "personality issues".

I had an LCP and sold it, but I objected to feed issues with the one I had, and carry a Kahr 380 now when nothing but teeny tiny will do.

well the "real" reset is almost trigger all the way out, completely different from my other guns, I got you on the get off me gun part as I practice at 3 yards with it. probably wont do much better at any further distance. my wife also hates shooting it now.

I didn't even know LCPs had a reset other than full extension. I haven't shot but 50rds thru mine. Like Fieldgrade said, I never considered it for its speed. That said, I am plenty good with it at 7-10yds. The sights on my custom edition help over the standard. I like it for what it is. I often need to pocket carry.

Fake reset?

Yea, it clicks but doesn't actually reset so when you pull the trigger nothing happens, you have to let it out to fully reset it. I've had my LCP for a few years now, put ~500 rounds through it and never noticed it before yesterday. Must not be all that noticeable in live fire, never actually played with the reset dry because I don't do a lot of dryfire drills with the thing.

I'm fairly accurate out to 10 yards with it, have surprised some people running plate racks with it. It's a better shooter (accuracy wise) than it would appear, but the ergos make it not fun to shoot a lot.

It's pretty much the smallest/lightest 380 out there, and if you look at it that way it's a nice gun. Fieldgrades' P380 and the LCP2 are much nicer guns and easier to shoot, but each are slightly larger. I've stuck with the LCP just for that reason, if I'm carrying it, I must be going after the smallest thing I can. If there is room to carry anything else, I look beyond 380.

I compiled and posted this for a slightly different reason at the "other place" last year. I just added the wee Kahr CW 380 to the list for comparison, so you can compare it to the LCP. They are virtually the same size. Better trigger for sure, and surprisingly accurate if you do your part. The Kahr does specify it needs a couple of hundred round break-in period, but mine ran great out of the box.

Sounds normal for an LCP. Mine did the same thing, with the first click about half way, then the actual re-set almost at the end.

I had no idea they were that close. Guess I need to shut up about the LCP being the smallest 380! I'll have to change it to the smallest cheap 380?

yeah, all this talk makes me want a p238 now though. neighbor has one and it handled really nicely with a good single action trigger.
