Well, not really leaf peeping. But a lot of motorcycle riding. Left Clt at 4:30 am to meet some guys at Clyde's in Waynesville for breakfast at 7am. We rode 215 and then a bunch of twisties to Glenville and stopped in Franklin for lunch. Left Franklin and hit Wayah Rd to Nantahalla and back to Waynesville. Got back to Clt at 6:30 pm. 575 miles roundtrip! There was some color but I didn't peep a lot because we were cooking pretty good and had to pay attention to what I was doing. If you saw 37 Honda ST's in that area today, that would have been us. They are rolling out again tomorrow morning from Clyde's heading towards Hot Springs.

Glad you had a nice trip. How do you guys think the area will be on Oct 23-24. The girlfriend and I are trying to plan an over night trip and will be a little pressed for time. She would like to see the fall colors and I want to ride the curves so it could be a win win.

The highest elevations will probably be gone by then but you should still have some color at lower elevations.

I was working up off NC 9 toward Black mtn earlier this week and that area was starting to look very good. Rode Pisgah near the hatchery on Thursday. Nothing to get excited about. Rode Dupont this morning. Again, nothing exciting just yet. I'll post up if I see anything worth a road trip.

the leaves are a bust this year according to the people i talk to. Brevard/Jefferson/Linville same story. TS Nate took 1/2 of them off the trees
before enough had changed...and the warm weather Nate brought delayed the rest. still beautiful country, just not as colorful as it could be.

Were at 1500ft here in Purlear.,,theyre dropping just not changing like youd expect. We hit Banner Elk this weekend which was great..about 3500ft or so there? We are hoping within te next week to see the colors here... crossing fingers.

We rode up around Boone and Blowing Rock on Saturday. The color definitely wasn't as good as it has been in previous years. Still beautiful country but just not as colorful. It was quite warm as well.

In about a week it will be primo. Stays that way for 5/6 days, (weather permitting) then they start to fall fairly rapido.
Last best year was 2007. It was stunning. Every tree was packed and colored..it was like a giant colored cauliflower plant.

All motorcyclist's and gun-owner drivers are welcome!
Everyone else...nothing to see here move along.

But seriously my biker brethren, be real careful. The cage drivers are leaf zombies and not watching for motorcyclist's, or any damn thing really, and this time of year is one of the most dangerous for us. The classic left turn right in front of you is prominent. Run your high beams.

This is true. I had a VA appointment yesterday morning and try to avoid I-26 free festival parking during morning rush hour so I travel Brevard Rd, to the Blue Ridge Pky and head north until I get to the exit right on the Charles George property line, (it's a great way to avoid Trashville traffic).

While traveling the Pky, I saw many groups of 4 or more bikers, I tried several times to turn them into strawberry jam, (I like to collect biker vests and hang them in the garage) but I just couldn't keep up with them in the curves, as they fled in a panic, giving me "the bird" and "M-F'ering" me to hell and back.

It was kind of a disappointment really, I was hoping to get fired on a bit, it's quite exciting to hear the "Thunk & Spang" of pistol rounds hitting the vehicle while chasing prey, but they just didn't have the moxy for a full-on, spirited hunt...pity that.....
