How does Chatham county sheriffs department compare to lee county's as far
As chp renewals and general 2nd amendment matters

I know a guy that lives in Chatham county now. He used to live in downtown Siler. When he applied for a suppressor years ago the Siler City police chief wouldn't sign off on it.

But the Chatham county sheriff at the the time did

Live in Lee County, so I can't speak to Chatham. However our process when we moved from Johnston Lee and have done a renewal was painless, Sheriff seems like a pro 2A guy and have had some good conversations with him and some of the Deputies. We've had some interactions with the LCSO and they've all been positive. They've come out to our place a couple of times, once when someone called about us shooting....He was more interested in handling my Barnes AR than the complaint of us shooting.

I live in Chatham but am familiar with both. I think they can be pretty close to the same. However, at this time, I would have to give the edge to Lee County, especially on the NFA front.

Chatham has a little bit of liberal conformity influence coming from the north part of the county, which will only get worse with time. And when I say little, a Sheriff in Chatham will not get elected or reelected without the approval of the liberal north. They have the numbers.

That's what I figured

Yeah lee was much better than wake and my wife's experience in Durham was horrible.

So you're saying nfa is easy in lee, how?

He is night and day from Donnie in wake.

I didn't specifically ask about that since I went the trust route, however I don't get the idea he wouldn't sign.

NFA is easy everywhere now, at least as far as CLEO is concerned.

It's now a Notification instead of a Certification, so there's no signature required. It's been that way for almost a year.

For the year or so before that, it really wasn't (or shouldn't have been) an issue because "shall sign" legislation was in effect.

Have no idea, but there's a surefire way to get the answer you seek...

Call the Sheriff in each county and ask where they stand on 1) the Constitutional Carry bill currently in the NC Senate 2) Repealing the permit to purchase requirement for handguns.

The answers they give will tell you all you need to know regarding how each one views the liberty of free citizens.

If they answer "No, I don't support that" to either 1 or 2, then, in the same breath state they support the 2nd/RTKBA, they're blowing smoke up your arse.

I actually have heard of one Sheriff that was said to have stated that he doesn't mind repeal of purchase permits because criminals don't get them anyways. Politically he may not say it openly thou. I wonder how many of the others in the state feel the same way.

He also said the same about the Senate bill but said he realistically doesn't see it passing the Senate and if it does the Governor won't sign it.

Translation:

His office and the position of the NC Sheriffs Association is of greater importance than preservation/protection of a right of the people.

As an elected official, when you allow potential political backlash or the position of a specific group/organization to determine your vocal/public stance on liberty...liberty that you've sworn to THE PEOPLE you will support and maintain, you prove that you are unfit to serve.
