Let’s talk Bags (SHTF, BOB, Go-Bag, GHB, etc)

30 bucks it's not a bad starter at all.

This thread got me thinking, I pulled my pack out a few weeks ago when I had several folks in my car and had cargo, I need to put it back in and I'll update.

I'll scale back things, 'streamline' things a bit for weight and space

Should I do pics when I do it? Pics with a proper list?

Absolutely take pics

Everyone has their own “type” of bag to suit their needs or to prepare for a certain range of situations.

I put together a lightweight SHTF/Get Home Bag (GHB) a few years ago, and tested it during an overnighter. It was an all black 30L REI pack, which I later changed to a less tactical looking grey REI 30L pack.

Unfortunately, when I went from a sedan to a truck, my pack no longer fit in any concealed storage compartment. So I decided to put together a new, compact GHB/survival kit using a Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack.

??? Really weak starter kit since there’s no red bandana, no Che shirt, no US flag to burn, no black clothing, no butt hurt salve, and no tissues for the copious amounts of libtard tears.

I've said before with 6 kids I do not need a bug out bag, I need a bug out RV. As I work 8 miles from home, I carry nothing: I can be home in under 2 hours on foot. But if I travel for any reason I do pack a bag to keep me (and my family if they are on the trip) good for a couple days.

Subscribed.... I'll grab mine out of the Suburban later and unpack and photo. It's very similar to what you guys have already posted, but I may have a few things different.

Like Chuckman, I have a houseful of kids (though a couple short of his total.) We ain't bugging out if we can help it. If we do, we will have to load it on the fly into the Suburban and roll.

Someones been watching that marine on the YouTubes. First time i ever heard of Bank line was on his videos.

People with kids ... don’t you have bags for them based on their abilities? A six year old might not be able to carry what Dad or Mom can but a small pack with socks, poncho, energy bars, water purification straw, etc is well within their capabilities and you can expand it and become more “helpful” as they grow ... and teaches them to be self reliant. Use to be Scouting was one of the best things to teach this kind of thing ... now self reliance and such is all but a lost art.

Haha you got me there. I like the stuff though! I went from 550 cord to 325 cord to bank line. I still use 325 cord camping/hiking since I can get hi-viz colors. For my needs, bank line (braided or twisted) fits the bill perfectly.

No, not really. If we had to pick up and and split in a hurry in the middle of the night I have enough stashed it would be easy enough to grab stuff and go. A lot of it, my kids could handle. But a specific bag with goodies for each of them? No. I really don't see the point vis-vis risk-benefit matrix.

Now if we traveled more then I would consider it.
