Let's drop the weight challenge

Id love to see a "1" as the front number again. But first, lets just get to the low-mid teens.

I have been really bad about my diet since I hit my 225 goal back at the end of Feb. Since, I've been working out of town a good bit, running like crazy in town, and pulling some weekend vaca's. The one thing I've kept up with fairly well is my fasting. Even with ALL the crap and beer I've ingested I only put 6 1/2# on and 2/3 of that was probably water weight. I got back on the wagon Monday and the 6# is gone plus. I'm at 224.2 as of this morning. Going to stay strong until I leave for the Black Hills of South Dakota in 3 weeks. Hoping to hit 215 by then. After adding a new notch in my belt and seeing my cinched up work shorts in the mirror the other day during an open house walk-through, I did go and buy new work clothes today. No more 40s here. I was buying 38s, now I'm wearing 36s... That felt good...

Awesome man, what type of fasting are you doing?

Awesome man, what type of fasting are you doing?

I do a minimum 16hr bulletproof coffee fast everyday. I make my french press coffee with 2tbs butter and 1tbs MCT oil and that and water is all I ingest from the time I get up until lunch. Normally I prefer to take lunch around 1-2pm, but if I'm with a crew, I'll eat at noon. Lunch is my biggest meal. I throw down, keto-style. I then have a decent size dinner around 6-7pm ideally. Basically, I'm trying to eat inside an 8hr window MAX. I prefer around 4-5hr for a 19-20hr fast. I'm pretty flexible but I do it every day. If I'm eating clean food, even a little heavier on carbs than I should, I don't get hungry. In fact, I often skip lunch if I'm working solo and there's no reason to stop for a meal. I've talked to folks who skip whole days or more after doing it for a long time. They only eat when they are actually hungry.

As long as I do that, I don't gain much beyond the water weight that comes fast from eating carbs(4g for every gram of carbs stored). Water weight falls off fast.

Additionally, I feel better than I ever have on any diet. My mental clarity in the morning is great. No brain fog like I used to experience. I don't ride the insulin rollercoaster. No crashes in the afternoon, just a slow protein burn that keeps me going. Also I don't really get cravings. I only get hungry out of boredom. If I'm not busy I'll think about food and have minor cravings, but that's rarely an issue with my busy life.

I am not committed to keto on a permanent basis either, btw. It's a good clean-eating tool, but I'm going to start rotating my diet from keto to carnivore to lowish-carb paleo to reasonable clean eating periods(think paleo/keto with some potatoes and corn products). Wheat, sugar, and artificial sweetners are the main things I'm avoiding. They are hard on the gut biome and my system as a whole. I'll eat a little bread or pasta from time to time but it will have to be something special and worthwhile. I'm not going to wreck my diet for crap like McDonald's or Little Caesar's or Olive Garden, even when traveling. I throw it all out the window when I'm on the road, as I like to experience the local cuisine without restriction when I'm vacationing. The goal is to maintain a healthier eating lifestyle and not feel like I'm missing out or getting into a rut.

I've also been reading/listening to a lot on sleep health. That's some scary shite. The links to not getting sleep with Alzheimer's and demensia, well as heart conditions has me taking my rest more seriously. You won't be seeing me on here late night anymore. 7-8hrs every day... Even if you diet, if you don't get the proper rest the weight you lose can be more muscle mass than fat. Cortisol is a crazy hormone...

Ive kept up my work out routine so far. Down around 55 lbs so far. September of last year I was almost kicked off the health program at work that gives us a discsount on our insurance. After my last appointment I had skipped a phase and am not in almost the highest fitness level they recognize. I qualified for about $300 per month in insurance savings.

I have exactly 3 months until my Spartan race in Ashville, so I have started moving from 100% cardio workouts to about 60-70% cardio and 40-40% strength training. Primarily working my arms and shoulders. I still go to the gym every day for between an hour and an hour and a half.

Down from a tight size 44 pant to a comfortable 40, and a size XXXL shirt to a snug XL or a loose XXL. Main benefit has been in my endurance. Last year at this time if I mowed the lawn I would basically be spent for the day. Now, I can do my gym routine, mow the grass, and still be ready to do more.

I no longer really have a "goal weight" as I hit my initial goal of 250 and decided I don't really see a need to stop, so Ill just keep working and improving.

The sleep thing is huge too, I listened to that podcast with the sleep doctor on Rogan ;)

Swear Rogan does more for me changing things then anyone

I know I need to sleep more, and I know it would lead to many health benefits for me. My main issue is sadly "time to sleep". I have three kids, so by the time they all get to bed I finally have "me" time where I can watch movies, read, or scan the forums.

I hit bed by 11, and up at 6. Kid goes to bed by 8:30

I want to get back to ALL 36" pants, maybe some 34, and comfortably wear any L shirt.
As it is Im 36/38 in pants, and L/XL - all depending on brand and cut.

@bigfelipe I have been doing the same on eating restricted time for the past week.

I need to get back into keto and cutting the coke out.

Coke is great for weight loss! Oh... wait... you mean Coca-Cola... ;) Seriously though, I like a splash of coke with my bourbon on occasion and the ol' lady and I split a can of Coke Zero every now and then, but I generally leave it all alone. It really doesn't even taste that great when you aren't accustomed to drinking it anymore. I save those calories for good beer...

Tim Ferris had some stuff on sleep too and someone else... Can't recall. One of the "Stuff You Should Know" kinda podcasts... I'll have to check. Eye-opening stuff for sure...

I really need to start working out. If I could manage to quit injuring myself long enough to get in the gym... My back is finally feeling good, but I blew out my ankle working the other day. I know I could help my fat loss and health exponentially by adding some lean muscle mass, but time is an issue there for me like sleep is for you...

Fourth day in a row at over 7k steps. And its only 1pm, so I'll probably end up with closer to 9k today. Lots of yard work this morning. Sweat is good.

It's too easy to stay up way too late doing that kind of thing. If the kids are in bed, you should be following close behind them. Spend your "me" time sleeping and you'll be significantly better off. Several years ago I started taking "me" time early in the mornings instead of later at night and I believe I'm better off because of it.

No doubt, but I see little difference in going to bed at midnight and waking up at 6:30 than going to bed at 10 and waking up at 4:30

It helps me stay in a positive mindset. I am always the first one up and I get to savor being alone and relaxing before my day starts. No one needs anything from me, nobody bothers me and most importantly I never feel resentful when others wake up because I was already up.

231. Down 40, 31 to go. I was in New York City this week and did a ton of walking.

I finally decided to start adding in some exercise. I joined Planet Fitness and have been going to the gym every other day for the past couple of weeks, working on cardio and lifting weights. I ran for 25 min on the treadmill yesterday, so I'm pretty sore today. For the weights, I am worried that I'm going to reinjure my shoulder (old rotator cuff injury that flares up every time I push too hard), but I've been careful and so far, it hasn't been hurting yet.

Form, all about working on proper form.

Start small. Something like 10 push-ups, 10 squats per night in the evening can be the catalyst. You slowly build up to avoid injury.

This morning when I got out of my bed I did some stretching and then did this.
Thank you.
I'll continue to do more of it and continue to keep my activity up throughout the day.

Well, I had said that I was putting my training routine on here to keep me accountable leading up to this Saturday’s Spartan Super in Spring Lake. I must say, you guys are horrible at keeping someone on track lol

Between hurting my knee, then my shoulder, and life rearing it’s ugly little head, I have not been doing the cardio I had hoped to do. Body weight and strength are still good, cardio and flexibility are definitely lacking. So this 8-10 mile Super in 90+ deg temps may be the death of me. If anyone else is running this race and sees someone laid out on the course with an 18 yr old young woman kicking and cursing at the body, that’s me lol

My coworker that got me to do the Spring in august will be there. Good luck!

My daughter and I did this Super and the Sprint in Asheville last year. Trying to figure out our schedules to see if we can make it to Asheville again this year because it was our favorite out of the 5 Spartans we have run so far.

The elevation changes were tough but, man, the views were awesome. Be careful during the creek part! Those rocks are slick and will surprise you :)

My daughter and I survived the 8.5 mile, 30 obstacle race in 96+ deg heat but just barely. We drained our 2L hydration bladders by mile 4, filled them up and drained them again by the very end of the race (while still drinking at every water station) and were still dehydrated. Have to give props to my daughter, though. She shredded her hands pretty bad coming down the rope climb (5th obstacle and about 1.5 miles into the race) and she fought through the pain and finished the race. She had chunks of skin missing from all 8 of her fingers and both palms but would not quit. While the race itself was humbling, seeing her grit her teeth and push forward made me even more proud of the person she is.

Definitely need more cardio before the Beast (12+ miles) we hope to tackle in Nov but that was already known.

Ugh... Went out for my anniversary and have tacos/quesadillas, chips and guac, along with too many beverages... been off my game for just a couple days and put on a few pounds... Tough staying strong...

Weekends are always tough for me. Especially this weekend with two Mother’s Day parties. Going to try to get back on the wagon tomorrow but meeting a forum friend for lunch.

I may or may not have eaten a few hushpuppies at lunch today...

My weight went up about 10 pounds after Christmas and I haven't been able to trim that off yet. Time to start. Give up some of the gainzZz and trim down at the waist for vacation season. I think it's the right time for intermittent fasting and drinking lots of coffee instead of eating.
