Let's drop the weight challenge

5 mile bike ride around the backroads of northern Davidson Co tonight. Hilly area, so it wasnt an easy 5, but I need to do it faster (39 minutes) and start going further.
I'll sort out a new course to take on the bike soon.
But I like that route for walking and jogging

I was bad the past two days. Ate like crap, didnt do too much physical work.
I feel it, too.
Today I took a LONG motorcycle ride. And, because of the heat, didnt gear up like normal. Threw on a lightweight denim jacket, unbuttoned because my belly makes it a little too tight right now, and went off taking backroads to Yadkinville and back...beautiful ride, by the way!
But what I really noticed was my man boobs. With the wind pressing the shirt tight against my chest it exacerbated things.
Im home, its 5pm. I'll play around online for the next thirty, but then Im taking off for a walk/jog. I'll not eat anything else the rest of the night, lots of water (I had a Mexican soda with my torte at my buddies Mex market), and try to get better tonight/tomorrow and going forward.

Looking at yall's previous posts got me motivated, seeing yall drop the weight. I'll keep working to do yall proud...to do ME proud.

OH JESUS
heat index of 99...yeah I'll be waiting till later to start that walk..

After taking a couple weeks off because of life and a worn down old body, I decided to switch up my chest routine. Until this change, my triceps would always gas at like rep 7-8. Even when doing a rep scheme of 12-14 for a couple months, they still fatigued at the same mark.

Now, I am doing the 100 push-up challenge instead of bench but still doing incline db presses, declines, db pullovers, etc for chest though. I did my evaluation test after my last chest day 3 weeks ago and did 25, which had me start at week 3 of the routine. The past 2 weeks I have only done 2 of the 3 weekly workouts but this week will start doing all 3. I can tell a difference already in my triceps, doing 3 sets of 8 reps of incline db presses today and the triceps never came close to gassing. I even did them right after doing my decline presses and db pullovers, plus only gave myself 90 sec rests between sets (usually had to take 120+ sec rests and would do flyers or similar in between to give my triceps a break). Also, I thought I would have to wait an hour or more before doing the 5 sets of pushups but knocked them out at the end of my routine. Might have to find a way to keep this routine in the rotation so I don’t go back.

Weight has plateaued around 240, so I either need to up the HIIT/cardio or get serious about my diet

So...I saw my orthopedist yesterday. I have really, really bad lumbar/sacral pathology. I need a L5/S1 fusion with spacers, but can kick the can with upping my core exercises and dropping a few pounds. Also, no running. So there's that. Surgery is the last option and we're OK pushing that off as long as we can.

You cannot out-exercise a bad diet. I would change that; I bet you'll see gains.

I agree but I have been at the same weight for 4+ months, so I think I’ll see a small loss in overall weight if I just up the cardio. Absolutely no substitute for clean eating and I am trying to address that.

I am in the same boat but with L3/L4/L5, I think. I am putting off surgery as long as I can. It has been this way for 15+ yrs and, after losing 40+ lbs over the last 1.5-2 yrs, I do feel better. But the surgery is always in the back of my mind

heat index of 99
If they had this when I was a kid we would have all died. Heat index???? We would leave home at 8 and return at 7 for supper. Bicycles in the dead of the summer time was our life. Used to ride 12 miles so we could play pool. I must have been about 40 when I started to notice heat was a sapper of human energy.

When I was a corpsman I was responsible for operating and logging the wet-bulb globe index. At a certain point Marines are required to stop any non-essential in-garrison outdoor training and PT. I earned so many favors. I was....God....

Crap just got real. Just signed my oldest and I up for 2 Spartan races (Sprint in Oct and Beast in Nov) to complete our goal of obtaining our trifecta this year. Not worried about the Sprint (3-5 miles, 20+ obstacles) but I need to start training now for the Beast (12-14 miles, 28+ obstacles).

Five mile walk and jog tonight, 19k steps for the day total
Next week we start soccer back. Even though Im only coaching, its still a lot of jogging and such, I usually drop a few LBs when the season starts and school starting

I’m about 10 days from my Spartan Sprint in Asheville. Weight is down to 240-250 depending on how well behaved I’ve been. Doing 85 minutes of cardio every day now.

That's incredible man, good for you!
Where did you start with your weight?

Kinda depends. I weighed in at work one day for an on-site physical at 293 or so, but at my primary care physicians at 299 about 11 months ago. Started hitting the gym at work daily after that. I have been on about a 4 month plateau now though. Been enjoying the summer weekends a bit too much. I changed my eating habits during the day and eat less sweets in the evenings, but in the summer our weekends are almost always filled with dinners, social gatherings, and church events.

I’ve gone from a size XXXL shirt to an XL, and from a tight size 44 pants (with the flex waistband) to a size 40.

Spartan's are fun as hell. A very festive, no-pressure atmosphere. I really enjoyed it. If you can, do the one in Fayetteville (Spring Lake). Nice flat course.

I am planning on doing the Trifecta next year, so maybe that one will be part of it!

One thing about Fayetteville is it is usually run in May/June and it is usually 95+ without the heat index. If you do the Super, you will need a hydration pack and carry mustard or salt to help combat cramps. My daughter and I have ran in the Supers there the past 2 yrs and they have been brutal because of the heat.

I did the Sprint there last year, end of September. Warm, but no humidity. Perfect. I wish they'd keep it in the fall. Sand hills are hotter than balls. But I prefer the heat to hills...that's just me.

The heat from this year’s Fayetteville Spartan was brutal. If I remember correctly it was 103 with the heat index. We ran the Sprint in Asheville (Black Mountain), which was at the end of July. Temps were low 80s, no humidity and tons of shade. Some of the hills were tough but not brutal. In fact, that venue was our favorite (out of the 7 we have run so far) and we will be running it again. Views were amazing at the higher elevations

1 full year of pushway diet & exercise. I use the "Loseit" app to track and log meals / exercise. I have been using the Fitbit app synced to "Loseit" - Also working out with F3 5 days a week - If you have not heard of F3, check em out at https://f3nation.com/. At 45 years old, I ran my 1st ever 5k earlier this year, Have another planned for October & I'm doing a GoRuck Light Aug 18th in Winston. Ruck training has been a big part of my training. Between running / rucking - I'm averaging about 25 miles per week. This is about 75 lbs worth. From a size 48 Fatboy belt to a 36. Still have more to geaux!

I started lifting and walking/jogging six weeks ago- I'm still at it three or four times a week. I am getting stronger and my weights are going up. Don't have the shoulder pain I was worried about and my back doesn't hurt as much as it used to. So, I am pretty happy with my progress physically.

The downside is that my weight has picked up a bit- I was 230 a few months ago and I was back up to 235 this week. I think it is muscle gain, but I would like to see the number start going back down again.

Still working out. I joined Planet Fitness back in April and have the plan that I can go to any location. With my crazy travel schedule, in addition to my home gym in Winston-Salem, I have visited PFs in Chicago, New York City, and Minneapolis, and hopefully will visit one in Louisville, KY next week.

Small milestone today, but a big one for me. I hit 230 earlier in the year but got stuck there. My weight went up and down but I couldn't seem to break through- but today I stepped on the scale and saw "229.0" (47 lbs down from last October). Hopefully I will be able to continue to move in the right direction.

I have been with F3 for 3 1/2 years now, here in Churham (Chapel Hill/Durham). Love it. My 16 year-old son is doing it, and now my nephew is, as well. Got a couple other CFF guys out, too.

It really is. When I started, we had one workout on Saturday, and one on Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Now we have at least two M-F. It has really grown.

My brother-in-law is from Hickory, lived here for a while, now north of Greensboro. He was doing it here. I should tell him to post when he gets back to Hickory.

If you make it up to Durham, let me know and we'll have you out to a workout. A very strong rucking/Go Ruck community, too.

I started a few years ago. 286lbs.

Got on the keto/paleo bandwagon, and dropped a rather quick 50lbs.

Here's a more recent comparison:

I'm back on it pretty hardcore after sitting right at 235ish pounds for the past 2 years or so. I'd like to lose 20ish more.
Awesome transformation! i'm hoping for some similar results.....it's taking awhile....

On my last China Trip I did an 11km swim at the gym. 3:56. This trip my goal is to hit a 12km swim. I'm here until September 30th. So I have time to hit the goal.

I’m on the far left. This is some of us from work that ran it as a team. The Spartan Sprint Asheville was a little over 4 miles of ankle to knee deep mud, a mountain, a river, a lot of sweat, a little blood, and a good dose of pain. It was absolutely awesome!

A few of us have already made a team to do the Rugged Maniac in October.

Also, that’s me down about 50 lbs.

Awesome job! That particular race has been my favorite venue of all the Spartan races I have run and I really hate that I missed it this year

That's awesome. Spartan is a hoot; they have a great administration that really cares about promoting a safe, fun, festive event.

Awesome job, youre looking good man, keep it up

My goal weight(GW) expressed as a mathematical equation where J=Jade would like like this:
GW<2J
:D
Have is my colleague in China. She is 5'3" and weighs less than 99 pounds.

I lost 3kg during the 13.2km swim. Despite drinking 2 liters of water (2kg) I was still at least 2 liters dehydrated.
By thus morning I had settled at 1kg lost food the swim, still some water loss but a pound of fat burned. :D

Thought I'd drop this "before picture." It is one that makes me cringe. But I need to see it from time to time to remind me where I was.
This was a camping trip. My brother-in-law on the left. Bigger flashlight than my MagLite.
At that time, I weighed more than my wife and I did combined when we met.

I am in my final push to drop some weight before our beach vacation in a couple of weeks. Single ingredient foods are the name of the game for me to help keep the overall volume of food consumption down while keeping protein up.

My wife started losing weight a few months ago and was more successful than I have ever been. She looks like someone let the air out of her, I guess it's a percentage thing but she didn't lose that much yet still looks totally different.
