New to me Marlin 1894C. JM proof mark, from the serial number appears to be a 1995 date. Cross bolt safety has already been removed and a Williams peep sight installed. Have the original safety and rear sight if I ever wanted to reinstall Have tried to buy this gun several times over the last 8 or so years and the guy that owned it came by the house yesterday to do some shooting. Well he has two kids in college and plying him with enough beer, it finally ended up mine.

Well the Henry prefers 357 and I hear isn’t super reliable with .38 because of the length. I’m more a .38 guy and was thinking something in the 1873 line. Like a Taylor’s

You will be very happy with that!! Henry makes a fine rifle, not my favorite in center fire, but still fine. If you want .38 reliability you have made a great decision!

Winchester 71, 64, 65, and any other lever gun with a pistol grip buttstock and 1/2 or 2/3 mag is right up my alley.
The gun in the first pic is a marlin model 1889 made in 1891. It’s a special order deluxe with 6 lettered factory special order features... it’s in my top 3!
