Happy Friday Everyone.

I am about to jump off the deep end and buy 3 actions. I spent hours laboring on other forums, YouTube, etc etc. Kinda curious the opinions of the local group here. With the tolerances these companies are putting out precision is now the long range adult lego building the AR community has loved for years.

My Criteria:
MUST take prefit barrels
Pinned or integral 20MOA Rail
Rem 700 Footprint
1x Short Action
1x Short Action
1x Rimfire

The age old Application question:
Rimfire Competitions
Small Game Hunting

Medium Game (yote,hog-maybe elk)
Manuverable for hunting
0-500 Target
0-1000 Target
Mammoth Sniper Challenge
-I don't like F class type shooting, every build will have a target weight of under 18lbs, 13-15 is ideal. IE: when I say target I still want to be able to at least lug it to a deer stand.

I've narrowed this down to:
Zermatt TL-3
Defiance Tenacity
Defiance Ruckus
Kelbly
Impact 737

RimX
Voodoo 22
Duece

So I'm thinking of mix n match: Actions, Barrels, Chassis. For example, have one light weight chassis for hunting, one heavy for target, etc. All work and replacement barrels installed in the garage. Honestly the prefit barrels open up options for the barrel burners now that I dont have to ship the rifle away for 6months.

Initial thoughts for caliber:
22lr (maybe I'll get into 17hmr one day)
308
6.5CM
22CM
300WSM (some manufacturers allow you to swap bolt heads to magnum face)
6.5 PRC
7 SAUM (now we're just getting ridiculous)

I was thinking:
308 16" short lil thumper for the woods & 0-500
22CM 24-26" 0-1000 competitions
6.5CM 20-24" 0-1000 workhorse
Magnum-ish? 30" 308? 6.5PRC? 223 trainer/yote?

Chassis wise: I have experience with KRG. Like 'em, simple, modular, and parts can swap between systems. Open to anything here really.

And don't don't don't try to save me money. I've already justified this in my head, they same way I tried to justify reloading saves me money.. Don't ruin it for me :D

TL;DR: If you could pick 2 Short Actions what would they be? And if you could pick 4 Barrels (not necessarily changing the chambering) what would they be? (I'll post the Rimfire question in the other Forum but welcome feedback!)

I did something similar several months back. I started with Curtis Custom Axiom actions. Manners stocks. Triggertech triggers. I chambered a fast twist barrel in 243 and bought a pre-fit one in 308. The pre-fit did go together like legos. You'll have fun with whatever you go with.
EDIT: I do wish I could have gone with a lighter contour on the prefit 308 barrel. A short #4 would have been great.

I didn't know Curtis took prefits. Add that to the list! Love my TT Diamond and think they'll be in all builds; I get the new 2 stage in next week.
-Did you have to do any inletting for the stock or just the Manners mini chassis?
-I assume you had to buy a Curtis action wrench? That brings up a good point, if the action wrenches are brand specific thats ___ x $100-125
-What twist on the 243? I'm curious, do you use the spent 308 brass and neck down? I was thinking that for 6.5CM>22CM or run XM80 once through the ar10 and run it through a 260 rem die.

Love the rifles BTW. I can't stop looking at short 308's.. I was thinking m24 contour.. maybe fluting to lighten.

If you want to do Mammoth, make that rifle light as possible. Carbon fiber manners stock (example). oz is pounds in that challenge.

6.5cm is the caliber you want

I've got TL3 and love it. 6 Dasher 26" barrel
I have a Defiance Deviant, love it as well to. 6.5 CM 26" barrel
I hunt with both

I had a m24 contour at 22-24" and mug was nose heavy as a mother. This is not the contour you want or need for mamonth.

I don’t have any advice for you but I have to say I appreciate your taste in rifles and ARs. It’s nice to see quality ARs in the BST. We’ve been slumming it around here for a while.

Thanks! I've been very involved with firearms for years, worked for a mid-tier distributor. I've kinda felt like I needed to keep the hobby private, but now I truly believe we should be vocal to show that it's a very large and involved community. And, I'm happy to trade around and try new things, I'm sure we all are.

Good to hear you like the TL3. It's at Atlus w/6xc Bartlein ready to ship right now..tempting...

When I said Mammoth, I really mean: this can't be an anchor. If I need to, it has to move with me so 18# or lighter. I'm not a fan of guns that go from trunk to bench. Not that 18# is a mountian hiking stick, but no armed forces have 20# rifles either. I'd probably opt for a purpose built barrel, fluted or carbon wrapped, for similar competitions.

Nothing to inlet action-wise. I did have to open up the barrel contour a lot on the 308. The contour of that pre-fit was funky at the chamber end. The first contour went on for a long way. lol. I can set the barrel back a few times if I ever need to!
I did not buy the action wrench. I used my barrel vice and a bar through the action to torque it up. I didn't get all Magilla Gorilla on it though.
I'm shooting the remainder of the factory Corbon loaded ammo in the 243. It has a 7.5" twist barrel on it.

I haven't been able to do much shooting lately so I haven't really stretched them out at all. Hopefully I can arrange more free time soon.

My comp rifle loaded is 14 pound. I do not want to carry it around on the mammonth. A good pack to carry your gear and planning is the best thing you can do.

I don't know if 6xc is a sammy spec round or if you have to fire form brass. 6.5 creedmoor will do what all you want or need. I've been shooting 6.5cm for 6 years. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

No fireforming for 6xc. Peterson, alpha, and norma make brass for it. Just wondering why you dont have a 6mm chambering offered in your choices?
