List of companies to ban

I think the NRA is fairly spineless, and don't really consider them defenders of my rights. I do, however, appreciate it when these such companies pull the Social Justice Warrior grandstanding in opposition to whoever THEY think might be defending my rights.

I'm happy to avoid or limit my commerce with companies who don't share (or oppose) my values...like Target, Ben & Jerry's, Weinstein/Matt Damon/George Clooney (etc.) films, and so on. I'll vote with my wallet until we have to vote with our bullets.

I disagree. If I'm over reacting, so are you. The rental car companies didn't post gunbusters or stop renting to the NRA. They simply dropped a discount. Your picking and choosing. The left is notorious for it and I find our "side" has started becoming more adept at it as well. It's also hypocritical to boycott some things and say 'Merica, then not boycott others that are just as bad or worse politically and say, I didn't have a choice or just ignore it because it's not realistic. If you only play sides when it's convenient it's not character, it's reputation... We all know the John Wooden quote... It's a matter of integrity. And by no means am I calling yours into question. So, please don't take it that way. Just throwing out a concept for people who may otherwise get swept up...
did I say I didn't avoid other companies over political agendas? when's the last time you think ben & jerrys ice cream has been in my house? its not something that just dawned on me over this. i'm no hypocrite I have made other decisions to whom to avoid when possible i'm inside a Walmart maybe once a month if that has nothing to do with gunbusters or political simply because they flood the store with Chinese junk. it's my decision if I want to avoid a product/business, you can go buy you a fake half gallon of ben & jerrys I don't care.

Arrgggg, my Ford Edge had to be dropped at the dealer for low oil pressure (it's full & clean).
Our fleet is through Enterprise so I had to get one of their rentals. If my local LGS has NRA sign up sheets, I'll disburse them throughout the car :p

So a local place, Marley Drug put a big ad in the Journal yesterday. Didn't know if anyone saw it, but it called out Tillis and Burr for taking money from the NRA and stated that no one needs a "military style assault rifle and high capacity magazines" to hunt with....

Glad I already stopped filling my prescriptions there.

I guess Mr. Marley is smarter than Mr. Buffett. :p

The Marley's are nice people, but they are pretty liberal. I never talked with them about gun rights, but I know they are on the left of just about every other issue, so it doesn't surprise me.

I respect his right to have an opinion different from mine. I don't respect his business's right to have any opinion. I doubt he's more liberal than Mr. Buffett who separates his personal opinion from that of the company he runs (in which I am a partner).

While it's important to support all gun orgs, some are more non compromising and they will be under attack as well on my next pay day next week I'll be joining https://www.gunowners.org/ unlike the NRA who I am also a member of these guys give no ground, problem is they don't have the clout maybe it's time to change that?

I think we need a running list of companies that are joining the NRA boycott wagon so we can avoid them. Many companies are responding to a twitter campaign threatening to boycott them for their partnership with the NRA. As you may or may not know a twitter campaign can appear to damage a company because the number of "people" twittering their stances, however often these tweets are done by BOT's not humans to artificially skew the numbers. I will list the companies I'm aware of at the time being.

  1. National Bank of Omaha they handled the NRA credit cards
  2. Enterprise Holdings which includes the rental car CO's Enterprise, National and Alamo
  3. MetLife will no longer offer discounts to NRA members.
  4. Best Western will no longer offer discounts to NRA members
  5. Wyndham Hotels will no longer offer discounts to NRA members.
  6. Symantec likewise announced it would end NRA discounts on its identity theft protection service and Norton anti-virus software.

I really don't care about the companies that are boycotting the NRA.

The NRA DOES NOT represent MY interests. And they DO NOT represent the interests of the MAJORITY of gun owners in America.

The NRA is all about THEM.

I do not support the NRA's political agenda.

I'm all about supporting the 2A. But not the NRA.

Flame away. I don't care.

I don't do Starbucks. My nose doesn't point high enough into the air.
They have some really big mugs or cute little sippy straws for that. :D

Boycotting the NRA through companies not giving out discounts doesn't affect the NRA one bit.

The NRA gets its funding elsewhere...namely NRA membership and donations.

All it means is people who are members of the NRA can't get any sort of company discount at these businesses any more.

Big. Deal.

Let the snowflakes think this is a fiscal success. If anything, all it'll do is drive NRA membership and funding up.

This reminds me of "Buy American" back in the 70's when Japan/Taiwan was going to take over the world of retail goods and we all see where that went. I dont think any members want to support causes or agendas we disagree with and we hold the most powerful vote known to man......our money!! To Govt, its more important than the populous. To business, its more important than your opinion. But to the average citizen, where we spend our monies can make a solid statement! Im sure it carries more weight than our votes!!! Spend wisely and happily.....and try not to support those that wish to do us harm!

As gun owner we should all agree on a day to not shop at stores that do not support us and the NRA.

Hit their bottom line.

No Walmart day, no dicks. Day, and the list goes on.

Problem is that if youre planning to buy something there then not buying, but then buying on Tuesday or Wednesday, does nothing, really, to hurt them.

Reminds me of the 'lets not buy gas on __ / __, that'll show them and they'll drop prices!'...well then youre just buying the day before or the day after.

Want to hurt them, stop shopping there PERIOD. Not. Even. Once.

How about Ruger, Smith and Wesson and Troy industries?

People tend to have short memories when it comes wanting to boycott something;)

I can't be the only +50 year old who knows the routine where everyone gets pissed off on someone or something being "anti 2nd amendment" and people then wanting to boycott that entity to make them "hurt", only to forget what they were supposed to boycott 2 years later LOL

I stopped shopping at dicks and Wal-Mart long ago. I don't need a get-er-done hat or stretchy pants that say juicy across the butt.
Then what in the world do you wear to the range? o_O
