Dang. Might have to get one of those. I've wanted an LMT for years, but never plunked the money down.

It's been this price for... 2 years?

Edit. It was the SPM model with the LMT fixed rear sight and standard furniture and I think it was $829.

Edited my post. They've had a similar version of this for sale for like $829 for like 2 years.

And yes, a question in the fact that I can't remember how long they had it on there!

Edit. And let me add, yes, this is a SMOKING deal on an amazing rifle.

IMO, this is the replacement for the Colt LE6920, and really a better rifle. A bit more expensive, but you get furniture and a rear sight.

If I was in the market for another AR15 I would have bought it already.

Solid investment no matter what, but if things go south next year with elections, you'll owe @wvsig an apology.

    It says tactical charging handle.
You can see it somewhat in the one pic. Who makes that? Is it an LMT gig or outsourced?
I like that though. It always chaps me to have to automatically figure another 50 bucks for a BCM to replace the mil-spec noodle they usually give you.

A range report with a couple sexy photos would be good.

What makes these so much better than anything else? The comic sans font rollmark? Are they sprinkled with unicorn urine that has been filtered through dry roasted magic beans?

LMT is pretty much Colt, but they actually give a f*ck with regards to finish and trying to innovate. They have numerous military contracts around the world (New Zealand is the most recent one that comes to mind). They are widely considered a top tier brand without getting into anything flashy or gimmicks.

I got one in March of this year, total with shipping was $866.73 from Recoil. A little push from JR Horne and a friend, happy I bought one. Solid rifle.

There's a great Stag rifle for sale on the forum too btw...(shameless plug)

I just wish they would include a full auto bolt carrier group and chrome lined barrel. I still think it falls short of the LE6920, but that is just my opinion.

It does have a chrome lined barrel, and according to their website they also “added knock down power” so there is that.

My bad, they had the “melonite” version for about a year that was their budget line. A friend bought one and it came with a semi BCG. It had clam shell handguards iirc.

Nothing. It's a basic milspec carbine.

    Just my opinion.

IMHO they are a high quality milspec AR15. Much higher quality manufacturing and finishing than something like a S&W Sport II. They are not fancy. They are not the latest and greatest super duper tactical cool or gun games AR but they are a hard use tool. They remind me of what Colt used to be. The overall quality of a Colt 6920 at one time was better than the rest of the "milspec" market. This is no longer the case. Here you are paying for the quality of the rifle vs the Prancing Pony. The reality is that for most civilian shooters the level of quality and durability is not necessary but for some it is.

    MUCH better than the 6920.

To say it is "just milspec carbine" is analogous to saying a Yugo and a Honda Accord are pretty much the same; I mean, they both follow essentially the same blueprint. The difference, as I have so eloquently stated in other threads, is the QI/QC of the better brands. A Honda will go more than 100,000 miles before it hiccups, a Yugo, 10,000 miles. Plus when they do have issues, Honda is more responsive than Yugo.

This is the economy line of LMT (while still better than most out there). I personally love LMT for their customer support but wish they had put the full auto carrier. LMT has some of the best support I have seen. I will take this all day over anything I have seen in its price range.

I 99% agree (I don't care about a 'full auto' carrier...I wish they would find a diff name for that BTW).

The semi carrier is a bit surprising to me. I can’t imagine it costs more to machine a full auto carrier.

The straight pins in the front sight and the standard (non H) buffer were also to cut cost. The pins aren’t an issue but the buffer isn’t my favorite. This is a step up from the Colt expanse or M&P Sport, but down from LMT’s milspec line.

I am with you on the “full auto carrier” name. The bolt carrier is not a deal breaker but with an SOT and post samples available, I want but don’t need the FA/BCG.

I am glad that LMT did away with their lowest level line. It was nitrited and all of the above. Iirc it did have a 1/7” twist though. They made them for about 3 months and a buddy of mine bought one. He paid more than the LMT SPM16 cost on this thread. He shot the snot out of it and traded it on a LaRue .308.

    Well, since you quoted me.

This is just a basic milspec carbine.

But if it has better quality control, we can call it a basic milspec carbine that has better quality control.

Nothing special about it. Parts on it are cheap milspec. It’s the very definition of a basic milspec carbine. Like a Colt.

Fair enough. But an insinuation (and not claiming that you insinuated this, but people uneducated could infer this) that all "basic milspec carbines" are the same--i.e., a Del-ton is the same as a BCM M4 is the same as a LMT is the same as a Spikes--is inherently untrue, too.

I never claimed there is anything special about it (or any other); in fact, I believe the inverse is false: a KAC/Larue is closer to being this rifle than this rifle is from being a Del-ton. But a company's QA/QC process makes it a better rifle (not more special).

I agree. It's a well made gun and I'd pick it over a Delton any day of the week. And, I actually think Delton is a good gun for the money.
But I bet most of the small parts are the same. And, a Delton is exactly the gun I would compare this to.
Not trying to bag on it!
