Long range shooting partner

I would love to get into this and learn. But with no prior experience I would be super green.
What matches are you looking to shoot?

I'm in the same boat. Very few of my friends shoot long range and are either working or "stove up" or both. Are you talking PRS style matches or what? We are about 3 hours apart though. Now with deer season approaching I'm going to have to slow things down on the range. Don't want to "skeeer" the "deeer".

I think Rockchucker might be interest too but he is about the same distance.

Be willing to shoot with you but running matches is a PITA. Shot at Butner for many years.

I wouldn't mind getting together once a month or so and burning some powder in an informal setting. Maybe set up a stage or two just for fun. Or shooting paper at 600 or something. I'm getting ready to order some 600 yard IBR targets just to see how tight I can keep the groups. If we could find a few private places around the state I wouldn't mind a road trip. Do some kind of rotation and keep it small. :)

How far are you from Ferguson nc

I’d be down for a couple matches.

You’re 2 hours +\- from the VOD range where I shoot. I’m 1:15 the other side of it.

If you’re in Ferguson, you’re only 1:20

Keep an eye out on here for the hawks ridge matches. Come out to one. They’re not as involved as some prs style matches... but they’re pretty fun and have some challenging stages

I'm 4 hours from Ferguson. (about 230 miles). I don't think there are many riflemen east of 95. :(

Id love to but the reality is I don’t have the time right now (especially considering driving time) with an infant. Picked up a 6.5 from McCraken early last year, promptly bought 8 lbs of 4350, a 500 count box of SMKs, brass and primers, 200 rds of various factory ammo.... Still haven’t bought dies nor shot through that 200 rds. I’ve decided to focus on Archery in the short term since I can do that from my porch.

@Downeast, after the first of the year maybe I can head out your way and blow the dust out of my boomsticks. My dad has also recently expressed a desire to try his had at medium to long range.

I'm still working on the "facilities". If it ever cools off (say below 90 degrees!) come on by. If you want you can drop off that 6.5 and I'll be happen to blow the dust off it for you. Bring the rest of the stuff and even I'll work a load up for you.;)

I've been loading SMK's and they do quite well. :D

Congrats on the little one!
