Im going to be getting a scope for my AR10. At this point Ive decided I want something around the 5-25x with FFP reticle. My budget is about $1200 for the optic.
There are so many options however so I figured I'd ask around for people's experiences.

Vortex Viper PST 2
Nikon Black FX1000
Athlon Ares BTR
Weaver Tactical
Sig Tango4
Sightron SIII
If I missed any let me know

The other option is the newish Vortex Diamondback Tactical which I handled at a shop today and it was very nice. The glass was very nice even compared side by side to a gen 2 pst. The turrets arent as crisp and it doesn't have zero stop.
The upside is I could effectively get two or three of them for the price of the others. Which is good considering ive got 3 rifles without scopes right now.

I bought 2 Nikon BLACK FX1000 scopes and couldn't be happier. I have been working with Nikon for almost 10 years now and they are definitely listening to what shooters are asking for in terms of optics capable of longrange shooting. I have 2 4-16 non-illuminated MOA models and they have all the features you will need. Nikon has a promo going on right now, buy before 8/26, tomorrow, from a Dealer participating in the free BLACK Series mount promo you can get a free $139 mount with your purchase of the scope. You do need to make sure the dealer is participating in the promo so I suggest a phone call when ordering. I put both of mine on 6.5CM's, 1 AR and one Bergara. I hope this info helps, drop me a note if you have any Nikon questions or issues.

I picked up a PA10 and was waiting for the SWFA black Friday sale on the 10x SS but was having reservations about giving up a wider field of view at lower power for hunting when I wandered into the LGS. They were just unpacking from doing a gun show and had an unsold 6-24 Tango 4 FFP MOA/MOA and they offered me a smoking deal. It was barely over the price point of the SWFA 3-15 SS FFP at normal retail. I had just gotten the chance to try the Vortex Viper FFP 6-24 my brother had put on two rifles.

That and a 20 MOA Warne mount now ride it. They saved me $350 off the lowest online price I've seen and put me into a scope I figured was way out of my budget. I'm real happy with it.

@Prudii If you've got money to buy right now I'd jump on this closeout special on the Bushnell LRHSi 4.5-18x44 for $750. It is a $1500 scope normally!!

I've purchased three of these since they were first offered in April. I've been running Vortex for the past seven years (Viper and PST lines) and was happy until I looked though this scope. I've also purchased a Bushnell monocular after comparing it and the Vortex offerings side by side. The glass quality on these two Bushnells blows any scopes in the Vortex line out of the water except the Razors.

If you don't have the funds right now my advice is to save up another $400 and purchase a Bushnell Elite Tactical DMR-II 3-21x50 for $1600

I have been very very happy with the 4 different Burris XTR-II scopes I have. I run their 5-25x on my 6.5 Creedmoor and love it. Can be found for under $1,000.

I like a zero stop. I just purchased one of the Vortex Diamondback Tactical's on sale and I'm going to switch it out with a Leupold on one of my "LR" hunting rifles (30-378 ) since it has no zero stop. We'll see how it holds up to the beast over time. I usually sight it in at 300 yards so it is good to go to 500 yards without a lot of come-up'uns.

I also want to say that I have two Burris XTR's and for the money they are hard to beat.
