We were discussing this at our home, and it is a big topic among the staff at our church. Few people and few businesses can withstand interruption of income for two weeks. It might be four weeks without cash flow. It will be a Big Deal very soon.

Many people should be considering cancelling cell phone accounts, but I bet few will.

Yeah, this will be an issue for a good many people. I have about 25 vacation days accumulated so personally I feel not so worried about this specific aspect but I understand the issue.

Cell phones, TV, Internet, Netflix, etc. The downward pressure is going to be intense. As a nation and a society we’re going to face some tough choices and how we handle things is going to say a lot about us as a people.

We don’t have a totalitarian State like China that nationalized things like electric utilities and can mandate things.

For some time now, I’ve been a fan of the 4th turning theory. In the crisis period, things grind to a halt and simply can’t go forward as they had been any more. Change becomes inevitable. We could very well be facing such a change.

I've tried to tell coworkers and friends for YEARS. Save your vacation/sick time, stop paying $250 a month cable bills, stop buying useless trinkets just to take selfies with for Facebook, stop trading in vehicles every couple years, and start stashing money away in the the event something happens and you have to lay out of work.

Do they listen? NOPE, gotta watch all the ballgames, gotta have a new car, earn and burn that vacation/sick time. They complain about being broke but do NOTHING to fix it. They finance EVERYTHING. If a paycheck is a day or two late their world is on fire and the sky is falling. I imagine they are pulling their hair out now.

The people in this country need to open their eyes. Most are slaves to a system that simply exists to bleed them dry.

I wouldn't mind two weeks off, I have a lot I could catch up on around the house.

We’re thankful for Ramsey’s drumbeat of the baby steps. After 5 years of working on them, we’re out of debt and have 6 mo income in savings.

We haven't followed his steps exactly, but have been working on the debt free thing. Roughly two months to go and we shed our chains.

Very soon, I expect to hear Democrat politicians promising to compensate everyone from the public coffers, if we'll just vote for them.

My guess is that Trump will go along with that since he never saw a loan or debt too large. He’s no fiscal conservative. They will run up the debt and deficit even higher. Someday there will be a reckoning. It isn’t going to be pretty.

Yep, we've been smart with prepping and money wise. We've not needed anything store wise to make it through this panic, tp and ammo included, lol. If we shut down for two weeks or two months, we're good, thankfully. I never did the Dave Ramsey thing, just played smart and didn't live above my means. I've always been good about saving money, and can save $20.00 like it's the last I'll have, haha. Interesting times now for sure.

Lots of major business are run on such a lean budget its going to get interesting. Most companies can't keep cash to operate on hand because of vulcher like investment companies buy the company to steal the money.

I guess the wife getting into an accident last week and having the family van totaled out was a blessing. That's $400/ mo we ain't gotta come up with. She'll get something in the summer/fall. Nearly have all debt paid off excluding the house. And when the PARTIAL refund of the cancelled DC trip for the kids comes back, that'll kill off a quarter of the debt.

well that sucks - hope shes ok

As Ive been saying past couple days on here - this is, I think, our next recession.
With everything shutting down it's really going to hit quick.

Shari and I have struggled HARD the last 4 years, and weathered some EXTREMELY difficult choices, but, even with this craziness upon us, we’re in a pretty good place, all things considered....God is GOOD!!

Really damn good timing. Ain't it?
Man, we have one about every 10-15 years. Ive said all school year (especially now, as we are in the Great Depression/New Deal unit) that we're 'due' for one. It's been 12 years since last started. Sucks, but look back and there are typically these dips about 10-15 years.
This hits us hard when all the little guys are out of work for weeks.

Businesses being closed for 2 weeks will definitely hit hourly workers hard. I believe that 2 weeks is approximately the tipping point of when we’ll see more crime out of desperation. That’s when we’ll need to be concerned about protecting our resources, to some degree.

I’ve been casually preparing for the next recession over the past year so not concerned myself about a 2wk or 2mo event.

IMHO, the timing on this is EXTREMELY suspect. *adjusts tinfoil* How possible is it that this whole thing is a bio warfare attack on our country to disrupt what is most likely going to be a red wave unlike anything this country has seen? And, how likely is it that such an attack has been orchestrated by a certain vindictive lying politician and her womanizing ex-president husband....
Change my mind.

I'm just glad we sold our house before all this... Was worried about Virginia popping off and ruining the local economy. Didn't see this coming for sure... We're set up for the foreseeable future (short as that is these days). I'm just going to be pissed if the airline or gov cancels my trip to Ireland in 3 weeks...

We expect my wife to be furloughed at some point. I work from home and my work will continue. I'll probably end up working more, but since I'm salaried and all that just means more work not more $ LOL.

We have $ in the bank and no debt except the mortgage. We also carry a surplus of supplies. Even so I bought an extra fridge this week and loaded it up. Gives us a couple more weeks until we are in to the canned and freeze dried stuff at least lol.

My wife's been out of work for 3 years, but we've long since adjusted to that & doing pretty dang good despite that. Fortunately, my job is recession proof (medical laboratory technician) & with my Army pension & VA disability, we'll be okay financially.

We're planning to move this year (we're staying local, but ready for our 'forever' home), so this may throw a wrench in the works if we decide to build.

Wife made it home from her last business trip and is very seriously considering not going on her next one in 4 days. I'm hoping she comes to the right decision on her own so I don't have to "tell" her what to do and not do... We've already discussed that we're really not worried about the virus, but the people are going to be the problem. Things aren't going too crazy here yet, and we've got food to last a few weeks. Wife has said she refuses to eat the local wildlife, so it looks like we'll have to time the occasional stocking up trip carefully, possibly while open carrying and being somewhat paranoid.

Please tell me they/you aren’t still teaching the New Deal Ended the Great Depression and FDR saved the country.

IMO he best best is our intelligence services trying to rid the selves of Trump or simple carelessness by our or Chinese scientists. Still not enough info for me to decide.

That might be the least of your issues. Sounds like it is likely. Or you go and cannot come back.

No, I can screen shot the final slide of the PPT and post it later. Pretty much says things helped a little in stabilizing the economy (1st 100 days), but that any time they tried to back things off the depression went back and how after those years nothing had truly helped.
No.
And ask my kids, Im very blunt about my OPINIONS, which include the ND expanding gov and introducing welfare ,which Im not a fan of.

...but its not just us.
Man, if this was an attack by a Clinton they really went above and beyond, by upsetting the lives and economies of MANY nations around the world.

Yall, this aint a conspiracy theory during election year, it's just coincidence.

I highly suspect this came from China’s bio-weapons lab, a block away from the filthy food market. Trump’s an incredibly good propagandist, it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if he focused on how bad China is and how for the children, stop buying ‘made in China’.
A large majority of the drugs used in the US are made there. That’s retarded and a US security issue.
