Ive owned an M2 Benelli in the past and I kick myself for selling it. I dont even remember why I sold it or if I traded it for something else or what. Been 10 years or so . Anyway just buying stuff is way too easy. So its time to build one. I picked up a 14" barrel M2 Benelli SBS parts kit from everygunpart.com . Sold off the Surefire flashlight forend ( cant stand those things ) and picked up a M2 Receiver from Roth performance. Then I filed a form 1. So while I wait for the stamp and just because I want to use it as a normal shotgun sometimes I picked up an 18" barrel with chokes and a standard forend. That way I can swap back and forth between SBS and standard length . Mod'd the carrier for ghost loading and picked up a 7 round tube from Daves metal works. I do want to pick up a Mesa tactical Urbino stock for it. Ive got one on my ratty old reliable 11-87 police and I love the LOP with it. I think it turned out good.

With its 11-87 brother from another mother. FWIW The M2 fully loaded with 9 rounds of buckshot is lighter than the 11-87 unloaded. The 11-87 will cycle just about ANYTHING that goes bang with what feels like 1/2 the recoil though.

You and my wife.

So I paid $325 for the parts kit. Sold the forend for $150. Bought a new forend for $70. Paid $350 for the receiver. So. with the $200 tax stamp the total cost to me for a 14" Benelli entry SBS is $795. Not bad.

This is where I turn a good deal into something questionable but all this is totally optional. $410 for a new Benelli 18" barrel . $50 for and extension tube and $40 for a tube clamp. Add another $110 for a Urbino stock for $620 in options.

A New 14" Entry M2 costs $1300 and a year wait on the Form 3 and form 4 stamp compared to a month on the form 1 and I still have to do $200 plus the other stuff apples to apples. Makes more sense as far as an NFA purchase. A good used 18" M2 is in the $950 range so as far as title 1 goes maybe not the best use of funds but I wouldnt have the SBS I wanted.

You must be the guy who took the M1 kit. Congrats. That was a good deal. I was thinking of snatching it up.
Yep. It was late and I thought I saw M1 receivers at Roth. lol. Well, I've got the parts kit coming. On the lookout for an M1 receiver now.

Edit: Of course I have no clue if the M1 and M2 receivers are different. I'm a bad impulse buyer.

haha . Not a lot of differences M1 to M2 other than the forend and the carrier cut which no one needs. . Pretty much everything will fit on the M2 receiver. If you use an M2 forend its easy. The M1 carrier is interchangeable and doesnt need to be modified for ghost loading and will fit the M2 receiver. The buttstock will fit. That kit came with the flashlight forend which is the same M1 to M2 anyway. Trigger group is the same.

So did the parts kit come with everything needed for the receiver? I was going to look at getting one of the M1S90s for sale right now and then either chop the barrel or buy a 14" barrel. But if EveryGunPart will ever get some M2 kits back in stock, it'd be much cheaper to go with on of them!

So anyway I screwed up my form 1 and had to refile. Clicked yes on something by mistake. Maybe in 3 weeks I can get my 14" barrel on there.

I didn't see M2 on the drop down menu for model number and I typed it in. Had to do a 10-day "Pending/Research" purgatory till I got my cover letter to send in. Yay NFA process! lol.

I think you put Benelli USA instead of Benelli Armi SPA as the manufacturer. M2 definitely comes up under SPA.

I dont know. I run the limbsaver buttpad on a Mesa Tactical stock. I'm not sure you could get much better than that. Its better than the factory stock.

I'm going to try the standard Benelli stock for my new M1, but gosh those Mesas look nice and get great reviews. Not that expensive either!
