Macau Grand Prix 2018- F3 accident

Whoa that was insane!!

Holy Cow! So she didn't die?
Those cars are cockpit/rollcage capsules built around the driver. 17 and driving one of those? She must have some skills.

Her last speed before the corner was 171+ mph.
In the middle of a pack of cars ALL doing around the same speed.
I'm a Red Blooded American Southern Male and I KNOW I can drive.
But I have no desire to drive that fast on city streets even in a race car on a well designed race course.

Dont forget in a Benz F3 car, yeah, Id say she has some skills lol

and
She didn't have enough skill to notice everyone else was hard on the brakes...

Right, it's her skills that are lacking...
I think there was a failure or something, she's a pro driver and knew the course and the car. For her to be at those speeds at that turn, something had to have been going way wrong.

Pretty much the same footage as before, is there no footage of that front straight to see, maybe, what happened etc?

Looking up F3 specs, 1200 lbs and 200 hp...dang that's a lot of power for such little weight!

Someone braked early, due to location and line of sight she does not see the others stacking up early. Tags another car and looses a wheel and more than likely brake lines loosing adequate pressure to slow down quickly and straight.

Looking at some other sites, apparently there wasn't a failure. She had contact with another car right at the end of the straight, jumped a curb and went airborne. She didn't slow down because she wasn't touching the pavement! Yikes!

She was backwards in the straight before hitting the other car, then went airborne.

Talk about going ballistic, literally.

Chinese Ferrari junior Guan Yu Zhou, was behind Florsch at the time of the accident and blamed the yellow caution lights flashing on the straight.

“First of all it was such a scary moment,” Zhou said.

“Sophia was really close to Jehan, so when Jehan braked early she had no time to react.

“She hit Jehan’s right-rear, and that spun her around straight into Lisboa, and she flew into the other car. I just hope she’s OK.”

There's junior F3? That's like the time I visited Tyson's Corner in DC and saw a store, Versace - For Kids

Open wheel cars are unpredicitable when they make wheel contact; usually sends them flying and can cause some horrific damage. Dan Wheldon's fatal crash a few years back at Vegas, Robert Wickens eariler this year at Pocono and now this.

This. My dad raced a Corvair powered Formula Vee when I was a kid. Those open wheelers can get real spooky when those tires grab another car.

Will be interesting to see the telemetry from that car, play it back in a simulation.

Were any of the track personnel injured? That one guy looked to be under the car.

Hell im just happy that enough of the people recording the video know how to hold the damn phone properly, it drives me insane when idiots hold the phone vertically instead of horizontally, its 2018 people..... HD video isn’t rocket science.

Search for the "Ring Taxi" on Utube. Sabine drives a BMW in taxi cab livery for hire on the Ring and she regularly thrashes posers in their high dollar cars.
