Highly, highly recommended.

Great direction, great performances. A really interesting study of a musical legend.

Pacing reminded me of, for lack of a more apt comparison, “Midnight Mass” and “Haunting of Hill House” (Mike Flanagan horror-dramas on Netflix). Quiet moments are well utilized with the score and locations.

Does this end with him directing Beethoven's 9th while he was sick at the end of his life?

No, the movie is not a “biography” like that (childhood to end of life). The focus is on his relationship with his wife and children—the movie really starts and ends around his wife.

K. Might watch this the coming weekend. Saw the preview and was intrigued.

Here is his last iconic performance of Beethoven's 9th. I may have listened to this a thousand times by now.
