We found some old stone footers today and a stone wall, there is a old a stone dame that dates back pre civil war I’ll get some pictures when I’m on that side againThat is a whopper. Looks like you have a nest property.
The old man of the woods.Following a game trail this afternoon and found this massive white oak in the property, my buddy isn’t a big guy but it would take three of him to make it around the tree

Time to buy a good metal detector …We found some old stone footers today and a stone wall, there is a old a stone dame that dates back pre civil war I’ll get some pictures when I’m on that side again
Maybe, about 30 yards east there is a spring head that never dries up, in a little valley between two hills, it stays noticeable cooler close to the creek. Along that spring head running north to south there is a rock wall, running parallel to the spring, 100% man made.Given how much larger that tree is than everything around it, one wonders why it was left there when everything else was cut down. Or why it was planted there. Very often, a lone large tree was left to give shade to a house or some other structure. Any chance there is an old homesite there?
This. That looks like a yard tree. The big oak and the work on the spring indicates an old homesite to me. Wells were uncommon in the pre-mechanical age. A good spring was a big deal.
It will still work as bait... you can probably find scrapes nearby.I almost guarantee that was somebody's hunting shack or cabin. They probably left that white oak standing as bait when it was a young tree of about 100 years or so. It's probably at least 250 now
I think it is in decline, it appears to have been struck by lightning at some point in time and some of the upper branches that are thicker are starting to die. What is the maximum with that you can cut? This. That looks like a yard tree.
if it dies, look me up. I can mill it for you.
I'd say there's a pretty good chance he can mill it.I think it is in decline, it appears to have been struck by lightning at some point in time and some of the upper branches that are thicker are starting to die. What is the maximum with that you can cut?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a tree hugger holding a rifle.Following a game trail this afternoon and found this massive white oak in the property, my buddy isn’t a big guy but it would take three of him to make it around the tree
Looks like willow oak - a member of the red oak family. This is the biggest tree on my property, i assume old growth. I believe it to be water oak but I'm not anywhere near being a tree guy.
I need to get a proper measurement or something to scale the picture but it's a monster, at least for around Daytona these parts.
