I recently purchased a Mauser P-08 Luger, 1939 manufacture, with the stock attaching lug on the back of the grip. It is not a Navy or artillary long barrel. Would adding a stock to my Luger make it an SBR. Some sources say that the ATF put the all of the military Lugers(characterized by the lack of a grip safety and the addition of a lug to mount a stock) on an NFA Exception list but other sources say the exception only applies to the longer barreled Navy and Artillary versions. I could not find a C&R NFA Exception list even when searching the ATF website.

Does anyone have a link to the C&R NFA Exception list so I can verify?

I think it may have to do with if the stock is a repro. or an actual period piece....some others here may know for sure, just recollection of something I think I read somewhere

I did read in one of the ATF clarification letters that reproductions are acceptable as long as they replicate the form and function of an original.

Inglis Hi Power, Broomhandle Mauser and one other are the exceptions, I believe. @cubrock may know the other one...

I don’t know where it stands, now. They have made a bunch of exceptions, but it isn’t clear to me whether a standard P.08 falls under those exceptions.

Very, very nice. Don't put a stock on it.

That is an interesting luger variation, can I please see pics of the frame/slide serials? Does the mag match? Is there a proof mark near frame serial number?

Any reason you bought this particular luger? Sorry for the interrogation, just wondering!

The only markings I could find on it are the Mauser logo on the toggle, serial numbers on the receiver and frame, P.08 on the left side of the frame, a 5 and a 7 under the right side grip panel and a Waffenamt on the left/front side of the receiver. All the parts except for the magazine are matching number. One of my friends is very knowledgeable about military weapons so he will be able to tell me more about the gun and if the Waffenamt is fake.

I bought this gun because I wanted an inexpensive shooter grade Luger to enjoy at the range. I fired 100 rounds of Blaser Brass through it, functioned 100%. The gun is a dream to shoot!

What is the waffenamt on the frame? Eagle over N? Eagle 63? Eagle 655?

I think have a collector luger there...

The Eagle is occupying the same space as the first digit of the serial number which is 1014. Makes it hard to make out the details of the Waffenamt. The location of stamp leads me to believe that its fake.

Amazing for an 80 year old battle weapon.
