    Anyone else?

I usually stop by for morning coffee but damn if every one doesn’t leak coffee onto my shirt with every sip.

Doesn’t matter where I turn the lid, it leaks.

Might have to switch it up to sheetz

Yup. I’ve had that problem. Seems to have gotten worse recently.

Nah, I think you’re good as long as the lid doesn’t read “this leaks”. ;)

    Step 1: Buy coffee.
Step 2: Pour coffee in actual travel mug.

You know, the public perception of that story of the old woman and McDonald's coffee is incorrect. I often cite this as an example of how the media can alter the truth. She was not driving, she had extensive medical procedures, the coffee was known to be held at hazardous temperatures (180+) and she did NOT make millions off the lawsuit.

    Just sayin'...

Biggest thing I notice with most coffee places is the spill or steam on the underside of the outermost ridges of the lid (hard to describe). I usually take a napkin and run it through there between the cup and lid when I first get it. Otherwise it's a silent shirt killer.

I have recently switched from a Chemex pour over to a $4 thrift store percolator. Balancing flavor, convenience, cost, etc....the percolator is the clear winner.

    My progression was...
    - $3.50 a couple times a day at the place across the street. PRO: Cute barista. CON: cost, 3rd degree burns
    - Keurig. PRO: 1 cup at a time makes sense CON: 1 cup at a time is annoying ; not eco friendly ; cost
    - French Press PRO: flavor CON: messy ; pretentious ; my flannel is worn whilst wood chopping, not throwing axes at the bar.
    - Chemex PRO: looks pretty; decent flavor CON: ain't nobody got time for that
    - Percolator PRO: convenience; flavor, clean up, cost CON: doesn't make itself

    Definition of a Sheetz
Above all else, Sheetz is about providing kicked-up convenience while being more than just a convenience store. Sheetz is a mecca for people on the go. If you need to refuel your car or refresh your body, we have what you need to keep you moving on to whatever comes next.

Road warriors. Construction workers. Soccer moms. They all have a special place at Sheetz. We know you don't have time to run all over town for the things you need. Sheetz has what you need, when you need it. And, we're here 24/7/365. Even on Christmas day.

I had to look up Sheetz. :(

For a “gas station” sheetz is the Walmart of them. Well, Walmart is sh*t... I’d say they’re the Costco of the gas station world

I hate Sheetz. The gas comes out of the pump about one gallon per hour. I believe it's so they can drive you nuts with the stupid television screens on all the pumps, selling stuff at you the whole time.

I always just take the lid off, even driving. After a few sips it's pretty manageable.

    YES !!!

The dang soda they give you thru drive thru. Dips and dribbles down the cup!,
I hold it out like its a leper and with a scowl on my face I ask for napkins to wipe before putting it the cup holder.

You ain't had gas station tv until you had Franklinville Gas station TV. Between the blaring volume to compensate for the extreamly loud grinding pump sucking air half the time...

I'm old. Nothing wrong but years of bad roads and high mileage.
I try real hard to stay away from fast food or gas station coffee. Stay away from mcdonalds on general principle, except when I got to pee.

Making good coffee at home is really really easy, fast and cheap with the right tools. Life’s too short to drink peasant swill.

A percolator can be worked into the morning routine pretty easily.
    1) night before - 8 cups of water in pot, 9 scoops coffee in basket
    2) wake up, turn burner with perc all the way up, do something for 5 minutes
    3) by now, it should be percing, crank burner down to halfway, let perc for 10 minutes

The best part is that once it cools in the percolator, you just need to get it warm enough to perc one bubble, and you're ready to go. I typically make my coffee the night before and just reheat it in the perc the next morning. I've been drinking coffee this way for 20 years; my mother for 50 years. I couldn't tell you what Starbucks or any fastfood chain coffee tastes like.

It’s a toss up on French press versus percolator coffee. Both are better than the drip method that became popular and the standard in the 80s. Both can work on a camp stove and would be options in a grid down situation. You do store coffee in your preps, right?
There is an older ham, N4BYU, who went to a ham fest in Dayton and the word is that he earned the worked all McDonalds award getting his coffee.
