McGregor/ Mayweather Aug 26!

So, by me giving my true thoughts as a long time boxing and MMA fan, that means I have no respect for Conor?
Don't know why in the world you would even begin to think I have no respect for him?

Maybe you are a little too emotionally invested in this? I am just giving thoughts as a fight fan. And I have been a fan since MMA started. I respect and like all the fighters.

If Conor knocks him out I will be jumping up and down out of sheer joy. Don't know why you would think otherwise?

It was meant in a joking/ribbing tone Dave, don't take offense brother. Heck, I would fight Mayweather for a hell of a lot less than the 100 million the "Irish mouth" will likely make from this circus act.

And, he does have a punchers chance. He's fast and hits hard and Floyd has to be slowing down at 40. You never know!

It certainly would be one of the biggest upsets in sports history if he could pull it off. And I truly believe he thinks he really can.

Mayweather is 40 has not fought in 2 years and has historically had some trouble with southpaws and I think the unorthodox style and angles of an MMA figher like McGregor could give Mayweather problems early in the fight. Connor is in his prime has great power at 155 and his punches are quick and sharp. I think he has a much better chance to win the fight than many are giving him.

We'll see. Could be awesome! Possible to see a huge upset.

If people are willing to pay it then thats on them.

Dang, a hundred bucks to watch these two...and you know it'll probably be the highest selling PPV in history - it'll attract boxing and MMA fans.

I think Conner wants to win this fight since he's a warrior but I imagine more than anything he wants the paycheck. Conner is gonna fight like hell to take the check and the win but he's gonna be playing checkers on a chess table IMO.

I'd get knocked out by Mayweather while wearing a vagina hat and a pink thong for a million bucks.

Ive not looked deep into it, but Im betting that Mayweather has a HUGE guarantee no matter if he wins or loses - one of those deals that even if he loses, and McGregor gets a victory bonus, he still wont be close to what Floyd makes.

I dont like Mayweather, dont like his cocky attitude...but, dang, that dude is a good businessman.

Absolutely.

I just hope fans reject this nonsense and refuse to buy the PPV. But most likely they will shell out like mad and this will be the biggest PPV evah. Which will only encourage more of this garbage, instead of having the fighters taking real fights (this circus act takes McGregor away from defending his belt).

They said Tyson was paid 30 mil for a fight. Id fight all of Chicago for that amount of money.

I'll do it for ten thousand.
And pay for my own doctor!

I tend to agree. Makes me mad as there's some match ups I want to see for Conor in the UFC. But I have to admit my eyes are going to be glued to the television. In reality neither fighter has anything to lose money wise.
But damn, the very possibility of Conor koing him is just too delicious to resist. Mayweather would have to humbly retire and he'd be a laughing stock.

If you sign up for UFC fight pass right now they have all Conor's fights. I watched them all again the other day (didn't take long heh) and he's a magnificent boxer. Sure, not on floyds level, but he's got rocks for hands. I ain't gonna buy it, but I'll probably go watch it.

I've talked to another member here, I will chip in for the fight. Looking at doing a cook out at their house and watching the fight. 5 people at 20 bucks isn't bad.

If Mayweather keeps it a straight boxing match and keeps the flow under his control, he wins, if Conor gets Floyd into the corner and gets him held against the ropes I think Conor wins.

Not sure if "respect" is the right word...but I'll give him credit for upping his troll game. :D

Mayweather really is obnoxious

Got to give props to Connor or seeming, sort of, professional by dressing up and not having dudes in tanks with him etc
Mayweather just runs that mouth like a jackass.

He said it doesn't matter Octogon or Ring, 10, 8, or 4 oz gloves. I'd love to see the boxing match with 4oz gloves. Would be interesting. At least it would be meeting somewhat half way. Floyd wouldn't stand a chance in the octogon, and Conner might not stand much of a chance Boxing in the ring with 10 oz gloves.

This match is all on Floyds terms, it does matter, he ain't fooling anyone. He'd never face Conner in a real fight, only under a set of strict boxing rules.

Yeah, they are scheduled for 155 and 10oz gloves, I'd hold him to the 4oz.

He wouldnt change it, that was all talk/show to sound bad in front of 20k people (said during the McGregor portion that I didnt post but you probably already saw)

Tens of thousands of people showed up to watch these people trash talk each other?
And then, at the end, they said theyll be in two different cities this week? (One tonight, one tomorrow. One of them was NYC, IIRC)

I wonder if you had to pay to go and see that too?

I think he does, if he's able to trap May in the corner and get in on him.
Who has done that to him? Even Pacquiao, a very aggressive and very accomplished boxer couldn't hurt Mayweather. Mac is going to be totally out of his element, and he's going to box Mayweather into a corner? It is to laugh.

But hey, hope springs eternal, and that's what the promoters, Mayweather, McGregor, Showtime and everyone else who is going to make a killing on this farce are banking on. So shell out and let them cash in on your hope.

Finally watched the whole presser today. I'm not sure if it's possible that I could want to see Floyd knocked out anymore than I do right now.

At least Conor was entertaining. And Floyd talked a lot of junk (octagon, 4oz gloves, etc) that seemed to be in direct contradiction to what we know from the negotiations.

Which one did you see?
As I understand there was a second one yesterday and supposed to be one today too
Not looked up video from last night's yet

Watching yesterday's now.

And read that some people were paying forty bucks to see this.
Nuts. 40 bucks just to see two guys talk to/about each other for less than an hour.
Thats it.
Idiots. (in my opinion, but do what you will with your money)

trash talk from yesterday

and Floyd

Gotcha, watch the two that I posted above, they were from yesterday/a day after the one you saw.

Both are entertaining.
It's sad that society is entertained by such trashy talk and disrespectful vulgar behavior in professional sports today. Not good role models for our upcoming generation. I can't even let my kids watch MMA pressers anymore. I was a huge fan as kid.

I actually like respectful fighters. Would love to see a true class act beat both of them. I've watched MMA from it's beginnings in America, back when North Carolina was one of only a few places to allow it. It wasn't barbaric as politicians and boxing promoters worried, but now it's becoming more like WWE wrestling, and further away from it's roots in the Martial Arts.

That's part of his game. Mayweather doesn't care whether people pay to watch him win or watch him get KO'ed - he's raking it in either way. He will be happy to take all that hate and deposit it in his fat bank account.

Mayweather wouldn't last a round in the octagon.

Just another example of the dump down of America, this crap appeals to the lowest common denominators.

Man, this post is gold. I agree so much with this.

There's a lot of those guys in MMA, too. But they are comparably ignored by the media and thus, a lot of new fans. And, ignored by Dana White, because he can't make the big-money-hype-train-billions unless he has a mouth to go with it. It sucks frankly.

Whats this IRS stuff McGregor keeps bringing up?
