For those of you that aren’t familiar with @mckenziedrums Work. I highly advise you visit his Etsy page and buy a pen. I own three. Lost one. And one has been my edc pen for two years now. My wife who knows how much I value my McKenzie pens purchased me a pen from a local craft fair from some other guy this past week. Awesome thought. And great gift. But the quality isn’t there.(of course I won’t be telling her this for a little bit to protect feelings and the likelihood of me never getting another impromptu gift again) For her it’s a pretty pen. And it’s pretty. But for me it’s a tool I use 50 hours a week minimum. Her reasoning was that mine is looking rough and maybe it is time I get another one due to “professionalism”.
My pen after 2 years of heavy use is still amazing in comparison to most of the turned pens I’ve seen. But the finish is worn down to the metal in several places and the clip needs tightened about every other day. I’ve gone through about 20 or so refill cartridges and it feels better in the hand than any other pen I’ve used.

My question for drums: can I get my pen refurbished? Or once acrylic is mounted in a pen body is it there for good? If not I’m in the market for another.

Here’s a look at how it’s held up over the last couple years:

That pen looks great!

@mckenziedrums can you do the main part thinner? Like the same OD as the ends?

Now THAT is a well used pen! Technically it's possible to pull it apart but there is some risk involved. Essentially I'd have to clamp the body in surgical tubing and attempt to press it apart. There is a chance the body will crack or get marred in the process. I wish someone made a stainless kit similar to that one...then you wouldn't have to worry about plating. I can take a crack at it and see if I can get it apart.

It is certainly possible to do a slimmer profile. Though admittedly I don't turn many pens these days due to the demand for my resin rods I sell to other pen makers. Have a bunch of bolt action pens I'll probably list here since I won't be doing craft shows this year.

I'd love a slim, bolt pen
Im curious to see what you post up for sale

did the OP change out the clip on his or was that installed from you?

Ah, the tek looks awesome, better, in my opinion, to the other style.

I'll see if I have any extra kits out there. Wrapping up the pen making side of the business here over the next month or so. Message me with colors you'd like or what wood. I'd need $40 to custom make it.
Why are you quitting it? I'll let you know, Id like one, maybe one for Christmas for father

Is the eagle bullet pen available?

I've been focused on making the resin rods that pen makers use. Created a product called DiamondCast that has real diamond in it. Demand has been high for it so I'm not going to be making pens to sell anymore. With two young kids, full time job, and grad school my time is limited.

Gonna need another two if you have the time before completely shutting down the pen production side of it. Two more will last me a little while [emoji6]. That is IF you have the ability/time to do anymore tec pens I’ll honestly take any color but I heavily Prefer the blues and oranges in acrylic but I’m not incredibly picky. If not. I understand. That’s a handful of responsibilities you got going there.
