Working on Dads stuff. Setten it up the way he wanted

So. Basic Hunting Scope for a slickside....

And extended slide release and take down bar for an early glock 19. Easier manipulation as fingers get less dexterous with maturity. And yes. Those are 124g federal hydrashoks in the mag. A fine carry load.

Finished the slickside while home visiting and waiting to see when the I85 route from Petersburg VA to Creedmore NC will be safer/open to navigate.

Blackhawk cheekrest to better align eye and scope. All in for a zero trip to the range. Dad should be able to hunt deer next season with his early battle rattle

I think Dad is gonna be pleased. Good on you for doing it!

Now I gotta figber how to scope an M1 Garand without drilling and set up his Sharps with a scouts scope.

Well....I did find a pair of nice mid barrel mounting systems for a scout/pistol scope on the M1 Garand.. I think if I combine it with good detach rings, dad will have both of his Battle Weapons ready and scoped in the spring. Plenty of practice time and he should be able to slay a deer with one or both in the fall. He's really been itching to get the battle rattle out in the woods. But, the scopes have become a hunting necessity and the lack of optics on these two weapons have held him back. With luck, and a bit of practice....I hope to be sitting with him when both those ancient battlefield tools bark in the woods!

Only one more battle weapon to scope after the garand....his bring back mosin carbine. That'll probably be scout scoped too but the Garand first. Its way prettier than the mosin carbine!

Dad taught me. At 77 and even with parkinsons, he still shoots a rifle better than me. I'm better on the targets. Hes better where it counts, on game. Solid as a rock on the rifle and a natural shooter. 2014 before the heart issues that landed him in the hospital for radio frequency ablation and then a pacer, he slew seven fine deer in 7 days of hunting using 8 shots (one was a misfire on a runner at 100 yds, he reloaded that bolt action and slew it running with the final shot at 150 yds!)

Ok, I was going to suggest a Kalinka Molot rail for the Mosin. It's meant for the SKS but I fit one to my Mosin 91/30 and it was excellent. It allowed me to use an LPS scope with the correct BDC for 7.62x54R on my Mosin..... But it doesn't look like Kalinka carries the rail anymore.

The top part of the mount attaches to the receiver and the bottom has two threaded hollow anchors that you sink into the stock, with screws to attach the lower part of the rail to the anchors. I slightly misjudged the curve of the receiver when I installed mine, but you're a far more proficient fellow than myself! It was rock solid, took most Soviet scopes and looked "appropriate" on the rifle. I'll see if I can find my pics, I lost a lot of stuff in the last crash.

I posted some pics below

As for the mosin....its a way down the road project....but, dad is 77 goin on 78. I think i'll keep his scopes on center bore line and as low as possible.....harder to mount but easier for him in the long run. He's ok with the scout position.....has a set up like that on his muzzlestuffer and is even talkin about getting it done that way on his sharps....so.....a bit harder for me but he gets it his way....he's Dad after all!
