Finally got the data and attempted to organize it. Also added lengths and weights of my cans, but don’t have it for the two others (MG7K & Nomad) we tested on the same host.

The readings were done by Scott from KGMade, using their B&K Pulse system...supposedly the best thing on the market. As a disclaimer, here’s what he said in the email:

FYI, we were running some comparison tests between the 2 machines after you left, and depending on the caliber and barrel length, the B&K Pulse seemed to be metering 4-7dB higher than the other one. We basically determined that the delay in signal recognition on the other setup (about 20ms) often misses the actual peak dB which occurred 12-15ms after first noise on most of the tests we ran. All that to say, The Pulse you tested on is a more accurate representation of the actual dB levels, but I wouldn’t use those numbers to compare to other cans because most data on websites and such are probably using the current standard which will be a little lower. Should be pretty good for comparing dB drop with/without can and comparing between cans tested on the same machine though.

    some notes:
    - the “other machines” were B&K 2209 meters
    - the shooting stations for the 2209 had 3, one at 1M left of muzzle, and one as close to each ear of the shooter as possible
    - the Pulse was set up at 1M left and 1M right of the muzzle...we meant to move one to shooter’s ear, and didn’t remember until about halfway through the 15 cans
    - the note you can’t see for the Saker 556 is simply that I didn’t include the flash hider end cap tines when measuring length
    - there are a few meter results noted at the bottom from my trip to Rugged a couple years ago...but I don’t know what meter they had (it was laptop based, not a 2209); the YHM LT & ULT were the same cans both times, and the Sakers swapped from the SiCo version of the Y-Mount to the YHM version

12 of the cans (Saker 556 is in her vehicle, MG7K and Nomad are home with their respective owners):

Any idea which bore diameter that MG7K was? My .358 is in jail.

Nice data Greg. Are you going to post the same info for your 9MM?

Edit: Just saw you only did the 5.56. Does that mean there's not been any changes to your 9MM Form 1 cans since you posted their results a while ago?

I’ve never metered a 9mm can. The only F1 9mm can I own is the DM kit that ECCO added a new blast baffle to (and removed a spacer) during original assembly.

    Nice info, thanks for sharing.

Your Form 1 cans are as good, if not better than the commercial cans...

No. Ray recently posted some data on ARF, just not sure exactly what it was.

ETA: I didn’t see anything else tested, other than a couple shot being taken while I was loading up. Some type of Mac/Uzi with a huge Sionics (I think?) can.
