The late '80's MREs were disgusting. Best thing about MREs is that I hate shittin' in the woods.
I got sent to the scenic Republic of Tchad for 4 months, right before I retired. Per diem was $119/day & I lived on $13/day, all-in (food, liquor & smokes). Was a nice little chunk to bank, just before punching out.
