Whenever my wife and I try different restaurants and find a great dish, we later on try to replicate that meal.

Anyone else do that?

Absolutely. Often times we find ways to I motive upon them, at least to our tastes, too.

I definitely do it. One of my favorite dishes is one I stole from O'Charlies, chicken, veggie pasta. If I don't get that weekly I feel like I'm in prison...

We tweak the recipes as well. I especially like to add veggies that may not have been in the original. :)

BB, that sounds good! I'll share one of my favorites later this week that sounds kind of like what you described.

Yep. My latest counterfeit is firecracker sticks from Fatz. There are some recipes online so this one is easier than most.
I also dabble in stealing high end restaurant's signature mixed drinks. I can make a 131 Mainiac just as good as the mixologist at 131 Main.

That sounds like I may be in prison if I do get it weekly.

Sautéed boneless, skinless chicken breast, pasta (of your choice) my fav is egg noodles covered with steamed veggies including broccoli, cauliflower and carrots.
Place the pasta in the bowl first, put the cut up chicken on top of that and then the veggies. Serve with a nice piece of garlic toast and it's a meal fir for ME!! YMMV...

Yes we do it all the time. My favorite so far was my version of chicken Brian from Carrabba's.

Cut chicken breasts in half width wise so you have two thin flats. Coat with Cajun season and then Paul Newman's Creamy Caesar dressing and throw on the grill.

While that's cooking pour some more of the creamy Caesar dressing in a sauce pan. Add half a cup of white wine, chopped sundries tomatoes and portabella mushrooms and a TBS of goat cheese.

Flip the chicken and then add a small bag of fresh spinach to the sauce and cover to wilt.

Put it a spoon full of goat cheese on each plate. Place the cook chicken breast on top and then cover with the sauce.
