So I managed to snag a Speedgoat on the drop last Thursday. MKC does drop of knives and they sell out in minutes. I managed to finish paying for mine 59 seconds after it dropped. Last time I got one in my cart and had some issues, a couple minutes later and it was sold out. Blade is 7 3/4" OAL and 1.7 oz in weight. At that weight I'll be toting this on backpacking trips too. I like their knives but this was the main one I was after. Bought it Thursday night, shipped Friday, arrived from Montana Monday afternoon. It's scary sharp too! I'm liking this thing.4733FE9E-08C5-4927-8BEF-ED29DBE39FD2.jpegCF699406-8D7C-47B8-A03D-9381BD0FEEFA.jpeg7BCF6572-474B-4F8C-A2C4-CED2396EEDD2.jpeg7354356B-3EF7-4120-A7D6-D9E1C850719D.jpeg

@chiefjason, are you going to try for one of the Magnacut Blackfoot 2.0 knives when they drop tonight?

No, I've passed on the last 2 drops. I really wanted the mini speedgoat. Forgot to mention I got a Stonewall Skinner on their first text drop. So 2 knifes in 2 weeks, I need to slow my roll a bit. Might grab one of the big boys for butchering meat with though. The skinner is just as amazing as the Speedgoat too. And I really like the blade profile better for field dressing.

I need to knock out a couple sheaths but the holster side is picking back up now.

@chiefjason . Now that you've had it for a few months would you still recommend it? I've been looking at picking one up.

Absolutely. 100%. Without a doubt I highly recommend them. And they are keeping the Speedgoat in stock now so you don't have to wait for a drop.

I use mine mostly trimming leather. And I can cut through 14-15 oz, 2 layers of leather, with ease. I've used it to quarter and trim out 2 deer. All I've done to the knife is wash it and hit it with a leather strop a few times. Still ridiculously sharp. The speedgoat really excels in tight spots like cutting out the tenderloins, separating the hams, and trimming the fat and silver skin when processing.

So far I have the Speedgoat, Stonewall Skinner, Blackfoot skinner, and Beartooth. I use them all when I'm processing a deer and any of them work fantastic. I got a bit carried away buying them this summer. lol. But it's nice having the different blades to do different things on the deer.

I have a buddy that just has a Speedgoat. Last year he skinned and quarter a moose and 3 elk with his and never sharpened it.

Just my first thought...deer guts and blood would soak up nice into that handle.
Do they offer an outdoor version?

That's why I carry the Stonewall in my pack to do the messy work. But after skinning and quartering 2 deer, it just washes out. It's not a big deal. I'd start carrying the Speedgoat but I keep it on my leather table and I know I'd forget it. So the Stonewall lives in my hunting pack right now.

The big plus on the Speedgoat is how light it is. Part of that is not having a handle.
