I have a new Smith Model 66-8, and I’m considering having the cylinder milled to accept moonclips. I wonder if anyone here has had this conversion done on a similar gun and, if so, are you happy with the gun and its reliability now. I used to own a PC 627 that came this way stock, and I had no trouble shooting with or without the clips. Yesterday I talked with a gunsmith in Raleigh (no names) who said he’d prefer not to do the work. Is this a tricky job to do? I’ve seen a couple smiths online that offer this service, so I wonder if it’s something that is difficult or if he just didn’t want the work. Any help here is greatly appreciated!
