Just wanted to share my old mossberg 42 that my dad gave me. I was the first gun I ever shot when I was about 6. It got some surface rust awhile back and I'd been putting it off, I finally got around to getting it reblued. Also shout out to @Carolina smith on here for doing the reblueing could not be more happy with it and would highly recommend him if any need some restoration work done.

Here's a before and after.

Does it have a letter after the Model 42? Like M, T or S?

I've never seen another one either from what I know mossberg didn't make them for very long back in the late 40s early 50s, which is a shame because it's a great little rifle, but some of the models were used as training rifles for the military. I'm not 100% on which models though.

That's a very nice rifle. That era Mossberg doesn't get enough love. Thanks for sharing this!

I believe most of the military trainers were the Model 44US and a few other models. I have several of the Model 44US with different sights, barrels and finish.

Here is a list of older Mossberg rifles and some description.
