Murder Beach!

We are staying in this exact area over Memorial Day weekend into the following week. I have a 4 and 6 year old. Any recommendations for must visit/do? Feel free to PM me.

Also, we are looking for a consistent place to rent for weekend trips. PM me the details on the rental! :)

Windy Hill is right next to Atlantic Beach. Coming in Sunday, unless you are coming in before 11am, that whole area will be gridlocked. Sunday afternoon and night will be a mess, the crowds will thin out on Monday.
The only good thing you have going for you is it is Windy Hill and Atlantic Beach. You will get mostly the Bikers up there. Myrtle Beach bears the brunt of the "Thug Week" that follows the bikers.
I'll be on the Ambulance just North of Atlantic Beach from 2pm-2am Saturday, fun.

When this went, we all knew it was over for Myrtle. It ceased being a family beach at that point. Sure there were scummy people running around but mostly they were just redneck teens and 20's and were mostly harmless, they just looked dirty. Mostly though, it was hot chicks and the guys trying to score. Everyone minding their own business but respectful of others enjoyment for the most part.

Lots of good times down there at Studebaker's before they shut it down..... those were the days.

Well, did @gaberelli survive the trip?
How was it?
I stayed back with the kiddos and wife took the rental (couldn't cancel) to have some R&R for herself and plan homeschooling curriculum for next year. She was on Ocean Drive near Windy Hill, brought her own food, didn't go out other than beach and back, didn't run into ANY odd characters or shenanigans and hit ZERO traffic arriving midday Sunday and leaving midweek. Glad she went as she needed the time away and I needed the solo time with the kids to go to Mudcats game and generally live lawlessly around the house! :)

agree with CrazyCarl: "Shame, 'cos the roadside barbecue on the backroads I took was absolutely incredible."
ever' las' one o' 'em. all good. all the way there and back. back to the topic:
last year was our last year. we have too many little ones and MB had too
many big, bad ones. Holden Beach for us.

My buddy had a house on Holden; we'd go every summer. He sold it this year (at a loss, apparently nothing is moving on the island). My wife's friend has a house on Oak Island, so that's where we go now.

Born in Morehead City, raised on Camp Lejeune, I have always been an Atlantic Beach-Pine Knoll Shores-Crystal Coast kinda guy, but "free" trumps those place for now.

Hey they finally got the recognition they deserve!

The report ranks Myrtle Beach the 33rd most dangerous out of 100 cities, as the trade association cited 1,566 violent crimes per 100,000 people. The FBI considers murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault all violent crimes.

Myrtle Beach’s population is just under 33,000, according to statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau. But the report says a high population does not indicate that a city will have a high violent crime rate.

Notice Lumberton NC was also ranked #4

Notice also:

"In 2017, SafeWise ranked Myrtle Beach the third most dangerous city, which received criticism because the numbers are based on the FBI’s crime statistics on a per capita basis. Officials previously said it takes into account the number of residents in Myrtle Beach, but not the millions of tourists who visit every year."

I just read that Wilmington was ranked #1 in opioid use; maybe some commuter traffic between there and Myrtle ?

Are they measuring use, or are they measuring sales? A few pill mill docs or pharmacies could be inflating the numbers there.
