My 10/22 Takedown pack rifle

I've rebuilt my 10/22 Takedown with a TacSol barrel, MagPul BackPacker stock, Volquartsen internals and other goodies. My intent was to have a lightweight rifle (3.4 lbs unloaded) for competition, hunting and backpacking.

Until a few weeks ago I had not put a sling on it, nor had I installed any QD sockets in the provided slots in the Backpacker stock. I finally got around to ordering those and installing.

I thought I was done at that point. Thinking that the sling would give me that ability to carry a compact package alongside my pack.

Well a couple days ago I acquired a couple extra QD swivels in a trade and got an idea. I attached the swivels to my pack and now can attach the rifle directly to the pack, sling removed and placed in pack of course.

Here is how it turned out. I think it'll go to the deer stand with me tomorrow to pop a few unruly squirrels late morning.

Why did you go red dot on the barrel and not receiver?

Keeps POA consistent when removing and installing the barrel I imagine. Just a guess though

Because you want the dot fixed in relation to the barrel not the stock?

It's never quite going to mate stock to barrel the exact same way twice after all. Really close but not exactly.

Gah - i really want to build one of these. I've always eyeballed the TD 10/22, but it wasn't until that Magpul stock did I really think about getting one. I'm still up in the air if I'm going to build this or a charger with a KAK brace next.

That is a great idea. I am stealing it. I also am building a Tacsol takedown with the backpacker stock for similar reasons.
