A Glock!?!? Have you lost your mind? Only a crazy and deranged person would own a Glock!
Explain yourself, young man, and in words a newbie can understand, please!!!Trigger was the deal breaker for me.
When you're not carrying a reliable gun on your hip, it's not a nice feeling. LOL. I had to get it sorted out....fast!That was fast! Millie don’t play no games.
Hi Point and Jimenez beg to differThe Glock 19 is likely the most commonly carried gun around. While I don't personally like them, there is absolute certainty that they're going to do exactly what they're designed to do.
Hence....Millie owns one now! LOL.A Glock!?!? Have you lost your mind? Only a crazy and deranged person would own a Glock!
Billy they'll take a hell of a lot more than thatThe wonderful thing about the 19 and the 26 is they will both take sleeved mags of 17 rounds. I use them both and carry them with the larger size mag.
Thanks, I agree!Good pick.
@Millie , for what it's worth. I think you made a great decision. You wanted something that would work and would work for a long time. Even most of the Glock haters will admit that they work reliably. And, even though Glocks are like pine trees in that they all look the same, you have to post a picture. It's the law!Hence....Millie owns one now! LOL.
(I did love the 48, but couldn't try one at the range and wanted to shoot at least 50 rounds in whatever I was considering.....I know the 48 is a dependable Glock, but it's still "new".....)
#5...We all love us some Millie.Ok, is this for:
1) me finding a gun?
2) me ditching the thumb/grip safety?
3) relief that you don't have to mess around with the 1911 any more?
4) the mule finally turned?
5) all of the above?
I hope to see you soon, before it gets really hot!
I think I do have the plastic ones, but I haven't tried them out yet. That will be Thursday's mission. If I hate them, they might have to do for a while, till I can afford new ones.Mil, while I am not a Glock fan I do respect them enough to currently have a Gen 2 G17 the Gen 3 G17, G19 and G21. All are tucked away in various places in the house just waiting if they are ever needed to help with trouble. They aren’t beauty queens or beggars for attention and upkeep but if asked they will do the job. If I went up to a table with unknown upkeep of pistols and had to choose one to fight with it would be a Glock ... it take a lot of neglect to kill a Glock.
I will give one piece of advice ... if your Glock doesn’t come with metal Glock night sights but has the crappy plastic ones ... invest in a set of Trijicon or Truglo night sights. You’ll pick up the front sight easier and they are way tougher than a crappy plastic post that Glock cheaps out on.
This was me in the 80s when I first tried them. I bought, tried and sold. Just couldn't beat that back strap making me point high and that damn trigger BUT, I decide I would Not be beaten. I ordered 2 Advantage Arms .22 conversions and went to work on muscle memory presentation and trigger pull.Trigger was the deal breaker for me.

After many thousand of rounds, as Curly Bill said...Looks Like We Win. I just was not willing to give in to a firearm that at that time I was certain would sweep the US.
I do believe if a brand new shooter started on Glocks, that would be their Norm and consequently as the young folks say...No Problem.
It’s more about the plastic ones breaking ... especially the front one. For you described usage, both job and round numbers, good sights from the get go would set you up better.I think I do have the plastic ones, but I haven't tried them out yet. I'm sure they'll have to be adjusted for my oddball eyes anyhow, it's just a "thing" with me and sights. Long story.
I'm sorry to have busted your Millie bubble, dude!Millie,Millie,Millie. My respect for you just dropped a little. I'm really not surprised though. The G19 is what most women and all girly men carry.
I'm sorry to have busted your Millie bubble, dude!
I'm sure you'll survive, though. I guess I'll see you at the matches with my girly-ass gun! LOL.
Just imagine how "fast" I might get to be with a gun that actually works! Boggles the mind, doesn't it?
You are too funny!
I already came to this conclusion, though.....way back in August/September. This was the gun I had in mind! It's just that the gun didn't like me back then, and it seems to now, oddly! Lol.Welcome Millie, to the dark side. I was wondering how long it would be, before you came to that conclusion. You've been pushing hard on gun knowledge. They are the right balance of size, firepower and above all reliability. You do need to eventually replace the plastic sights. I personally like the sight picture of the Heinie Straight 8's. There's also Ameriglo's that have a slightly wider rear notch for quicker sight aquisition and the rear is beveled for better carry. But, I really like the sight picture of the Straight 8's.
Get a couple of "happy sticks" (33rd magazines), to feel really good about sustained firepower.
There's a video on here somewhere that interviews some well known person, instructor/combat vet/shooter, something like that, that talks about deciding on the G19. He said something like, 15rounds, I can fight with that.
Nope, gen 4, grooves, but I can take them off if I hate them. I'll find out Thursday.
Like you, it was the grip angle and trigger for me. Trigger wasn't that bad. The grip angle was the biggest killer for me. Had my 19 for about a year and a half. I WANTED to like it, but never shot it as well as my other guns. I had a chance to trade it for a SIG P320 and I did. No regrets, as I shoot the SIG so much better. I have been thinking about trying a Glock again, but I have other guns on my wish list that I need to acquire before I look into another Glock. This was me in the 80s when I first tried them. I bought, tried and sold. Just couldn't beat that back strap making me point high and that damn trigger BUT, I decide I would Not be beaten. I like the way you think...…………..I own the same gun. It’s not my favorite one I own but it’s the one that can be found on my hip 80% of the time I carry.
Me pull trigger, it go bang! Enough said....
Yep. My covert church carry is a G27 on one ankle and two sleeved G22 mags on the other. The wonderful thing about the 19 and the 26 is they will both take sleeved mags of 17 rounds. I use them both and carry them with the larger size mag.
If I throw it at him with a new magazine inserted, it'll hurt....that thing is pretty heavy all loaded up! Lol. And for me, that's a good thing! You better hope it works mille cause that tupperware doesn’t hurt the bad guy when you throw it at him like a metal gun

I didn't like the idea of having to trust my life to a KelTec .380, which is what I was down to.....everything else I have has had some problems. The KelTec had a problem for one guy who shot it, and has never given me an issue, but still....not reliable.
I'm all good now.
(insert laughter here)Trigger was the deal breaker for me.
