My new many-purpose gun....

Ya'll hush!

Millie has Not Become a Glock Fan Girl. Millie has decided to own Reliable Guns Only.

I can appreciate that a whole lot. She's going to be a lot more selective. Her 1911 will be a 45; no more 9mm 1911s. She might check out CZs. She might even check out a BHP. But she's not going to get another pistol that doesn't work all the time, every time. It will take a lot of range time to convince her to buy another pistol.

She might even become a fan of Vintage guns now!

Shows you what I know!
See this is why I've never been a betting man.
I intentionally left out my observations regarding the G19. That is...I've seen the Gen 4 G19 convert more Glock haters than any of their other models. I don't know what it is, but it seems to have the mojo.
And also, my favorite edc gun is a Gen 3 G23, which is basically just an angrier version of a G19.
Glad you found something you like and will provide few if any headaches. Most importantly, it came with the thingies. :p
No Glock hater here, this was my first choice many moons ago, I just didn't have the hand strength or whatever to shoot it! Lol. Funny how things work out.....
And yes, the thingies are muy importante!!

Then she will have to sell all her guns to afford one of those!

Yeah their prices have gotten a little proud, but it is the one gun I’ve never parted with. I’ve sold a Les Baer, some Dan Wessons, Colts etc. But never the Protek. But a P01 or PCR with a little trigger lover would come close as a substitute.

Congratulations. Reliability is the most important factor in a purchasing decision. They are not stylish guns but they are extremely tough guns. Now start a thread on how great the Sig is working, wait a week, then put it in the ad section for some loser to purchase. Sig is for men who carry poodles, bleach their bunghole, and drive Chevy trucks. Hehe.

I don't even notice the grip angle thing. Same with our Ruger MkII. Non-issue for me.

I seriously need to mount the Vortex Venom on my gen5 G34 & get it out to the range. Those 33rd mags might be fun, but I'm sure the 17rd mags will do me for a while, as most of my handguns only hold 6rds. It is intended to become my nightstand gun & sometime range toy.

In my opinion you made a good choice. A Glock 19 is boringly reliable, easy to maintain, easy to shoot, easy to find parts/accessories for, easy to conceal, and has the capacity to compete. While I now prefer CZs, I have, and will always have my G19 Gen 3 that I started with.

^^When I met Millie and Button Pusher to help her shoot many of the things, this is the info we reinforced with her. She originally thought she would get a Glock, but I think being new to shooting meant she didn’t have enough practice under her belt to appreciate the need for good grip and the extra noise from shooting indoors was intimidating. I tried my best, but in retrospect I wish that her first outing had been at Battery Oaks where she could have taken more time (we had only an hour of range time).

She picked my personal 2nd choice and something on my short list to acquire. I personally feel less recoil with my Px4, and I grew up shooting guns with hammers. I’m thrilled for her that she has something so reliable and I bet she’ll amaze us by being able to wear one out!

Draco, we need to have a BBQ lunch in Shelby, and afterwards, you can take me for a CZ shoot. I'll brang BHPs and we can compare.
We can do it...just gotta be careful which bbq joint we go to. There is Bridges BBQ and Red Bridges BBQ and the feuds around here over those two spots rival anything Hatfield or McCoy ever did lol.
My range is ~35-40 min from there or the County owned place 15 min away (not a fan). No decent bbq near my range :(

This is my many purpose gun.

@Millie In my opinion, you've bought the most reliable handgun made. They just flat out work. I don't think you'll ever wear this one out. Glock OEM magazines are almost indestructible. Don't buy aftermarket mags, change the recoil spring every 5k rounds (just to keep from beating up your gun, they'll run on worn out springs forever) and shoot the snot out of it. Leave the internals stock.

They always told me I could tear up a steel anvil with a rotten banana..... I've never broke a Glock.

Wish I could have brought this one home from Baghdad in 03'. Previous owner later got hung. Notice Saddam's initials in the mother of pearl grips.

Only thing this gun choked on was CCI Blaser ammo back in the mid 80s. Bought this used Electroless Nickeled P7 PSP in Dec 83' after Basic training. Extremely accurate, even did a bowling pin shoot against Delta Force guys back in 88' with it.

@Millie

Ok, now you got your Glock. Which holster are you now looking at? In Waist Band, Outside Waist Band, Shoulder, Cross draw, Appendix, Purse? Nylon, Leather, Kydex, etc? Seems I mentioned something about a drawer full :p

Yup it takes a while to get the right one. I run IWB Milt Sparks VM2 or other similar leather for carry OWB Kydex for range heavy use.

Yes, I do have a few holsters around the house, just like you guys said I would!! LOL.
It has to be IWB, and probably leather. I'm working on it.....

Glock 19:
It may not be the sexiest choice. But it is never the wrong choice.
If I could only own one gun that would likely be it. Even with a collection of expensive guns, it still holds it's own and while not getting treated as well as the others.

The Sig isn't going anywhere!! I have an extractor coming for it, and I'll get the guy at Jim's to put it in if I can't, and then I'll hit the range for some (minimal) Sig shooting....lol...

Seems like a good decision to me. It'll probably serve all your needs (while also costing you less to shoot than your .380 or .45).

But, your comment about capacity confused me. As far as I know, the G19 magazine holds 15 rounds. The M&P Compact (at least the 2.0 version, both 4 and 3.6") also holds 15 while the M&P 9mm ("full sized", both the original and the 2.0) holds 17 rounds. This makes me wonder what M&P you tried today.

Me too....???

I was putting 11 (?) in something at some point, but at any rate, whatever it was, it lost the race.....you guys know I have trouble recalling all the gun names. The range guy said it's an M&P, no Shield, 9mm. Maybe there's more than one? It was nice though, but the Glock fit my needs better.
