my oldest and last dog Rosie

Today she is officially 17 years old, she is still with us!

Over the course of the last year her mobility has declined very badly and we have to help her up all the time now. She still eats some food and can go potty on the porch but sometimes needs help staying up to do it. She sleeps a lot but sadly not very well at night. We have debated it many times but we will not put her down before pain issues become unmanageable or she looses her appetite.

Happy Birthday old Lady!

My condolences.
Always hurts to lose family.

Sorry to hear.

Using the old 7 to 1 formula, she spend 119 human years in your loving care.

Thats a lot of years of companionship right there.
Sorry for your loss today.

Have a question though. You said oldest and "last" dog. Meaning, she's the last one of the dogs you've had?, or she's the last dog that you'll have? Maybe it's not important either way, I was just curious.

I know your heart is broken. Mine breaks for you. Dogs are like people without the bad parts. I know there is another one out there who needs you.

It really is a shame dogs can’t live as long as humans.

We took a break after putting down our last 2 but that only lasted about 8 months. I missed the companionship too much.

And while I cherish my current dogs I will always miss my black lab token. She was the best I’ve ever known.

We actually do have a new one we took in last year after I made this post. He is one year old. My wife initially was against getting any more dogs but warmed up to him. He has been a blessing to us.
