My RIA 1911 9mm is home....

Have you had any failures with the CMC
Mags.did you run them today or just the mag armscor sent you? Just curious
I used all 4 of the CMC magazines today. One had a problem. I set it and the new magazine from RIA aside.

Put a little piece of tape on that ā€œbottom plate thingieā€ so you can keep track of the culprits. ;)

Has any asked @John Travis if he had any ideas or fixes,I mean besides me.just now :D

OOh those sexy technical terms....

I shall mark them with a huge red X.....

LOL. Yes, I had planned on getting to that if I kept having the problems tomorrow and Sunday. I wanted to get a bigger data pile before going to the guru of the 1911.....a few hundred more rounds should tell us something, I guess.

If thereā€™s more than one culprit, you might wanna number ā€˜em. ;)

So far only the new one they sent me (black, no markings) and one of the CMC (silver, no markings)....

If I have issues tomorrow with the other CMC ones, I'll mark them differently. (You're just full of sunshine and bunny kisses, aren't you?? LOL.)

I number my mags ... ID number like 19-1 ... 19 indicates year I brought it in to the rotation and 1 the number in that yearā€™s rotation. I keep a range book in my bag (or some way) for noting any issues I have with any firearm for future reference. When I get time Iā€™ll go back and look at trends or such and see what pops up. If it a particular mag, ammo or such it will show up usually. Then go from there with trying other known good mags in the problem firearm while trying the possible bad mag in other firearms to see if it happens there.

Since youā€™re using FMJ ammo I wouldnā€™t question ammo now but hollow points are going to be something you also will need to prove reliably function as well ... 100% with FMJ donā€™t mean 100% with SD ammo (and then even specific brands).

You will...ā€¦..and again...ā€¦..and again...ā€¦..I see what I mean....We will try some PROVEN Wilson mags Sunday....sure can't be any worse.
Feed lips, follower angle or other possible mag related issue would be weeded out by that!

I have a Colt 9mm with some sights and trigger work that she has shot. It has Never missed a beat with her or anybody else. She has a gun problem.

Probably just need to get a dremel and some cutting compound and polish the feed ramp.

...Iā€™m kidding, donā€™t do that. My money is on the magazines. 2 words, Wilson Combat.

Does anyone at Billyā€™s have a Go Pro? If they do film Millie shooting the gun. When it malfunctions take the Go Pro and focus on the malfunction. Do it multiple times if necessary. Document the round, the mag etc.... Send the file to RIA and tell them you want a new gun.

The 9mm ETMs stand taller than others, and my factory mag and my Dawson/metalforms already have the case head coming in contact with the ejector. I like Wilson mags for 45, but not for 9mm.

I had really good luck with Tripps. But I have had practically perfect luck when it is all in 45 ACP. :p

For me Trippā€™s are my go to 9mm 1911 mags. That said my DW and GI run with the factory mags they came with and every other mag in the bin. ;)

Try her possible bad mag in that Colt ... and your Coltā€™s mags which Iā€™m guessing are those solid rounds without a failure are your Wilsons ... which when run in her RIA might make allow RIA not miss a beat also. I typically look a mags as the weakest link in any bottom feeder be it a 1911 or Glock or AR ... and I believe 9mm 1911ā€™s are a little more sensitive in that area.

Will bring the camera Sunday.

I've pretty much quit with the HP ammo. All of it is FMJ, in all the guns. It's what I use at the range, and it's what I use in my carry gun.

I actually did get a Wilson Combat magazine for the 1911 .45 on the recommendation of the guy at the range whose name I can't remember. Those things are pricey!

PS...don't start with the feed ramp! Lol.

Yeah, I know that guy, Mr. ImOnCommission, right?

I don't have one, but I guess someone can do little videos with my camera. If anyone has the time to mess with that. I don't want the whole day to be about my gun and its issues, though.

Dang it, you made me shoot tea out my nose! LOL.
Billy is correct: Nothing that has been in any of my guns should go in any of his guns. There could be possible transfer of gun cooties from my crappy stuff to his nice stuff! LOL. I couldn't live with that on my conscience!!

Yeah, that guy!! I'm willing to go a little extra for my 1911s...up to a point. So far, it's been all good. For that particular gun. So far. lol.

Give her some of that ammo we were shooting in that Commander yesterday. It should have enough power to work the slide.
