My wife volunteers at the VA Center in Kernersville. Today she met this man and had a conversation with him.

This man is a walking history book. Here are two links, with internal links, about this awesome veteran.

https://www.whatsupinelkinnc.com/elkin-heritage-residents-news/tag/fred norman world war ii vet

Just thought I'd share this with everyone.
Thanks for the links.
(I was also touched by the Marlene Dietrich and "Boys In The Back Room" mention...Mom used to sing that song.)

Ain't many of those guys left around. All that info and knowledge is leaving with them. If you ever get a chance to talk to a WWII Vet, better do it. You will remember it the rest of your life.

That's awesome.

There is a lot of reasons I don't like what I do or where I work, but I am in a position to meet a lot of veterans, some of which are World War II veterans. I love that part of my job. Those studs are becoming fewer every day.

My job allows me to interact with all manner of people, and everyone has an interesting story. Of course the old folks have the best ones, but most folks don't have the time to wait it out. These old guys and gals aren't really in a hurry so you have to be patient and eventually you'll get a glimpse. Often it goes something like this-

"See that rock there son? There's a squirrel that sits on that rock and stares at me every morning."
-Um..ok.
"He just sits there and looks at me I don't know why. He always goes to the same spot on that rock. That rock looks just like the one where three Japanese Soldiers jumped me and all I had was my bayonet.."
-Oh hold up now just a minute...what was that?

God love em...
