Look at this chonker.

I imagine I'll need another couple hours to get the top perfectly flat, it cupped a bit during glueup, but it's getting down to a decent shape after maybe 45mins with a scrub plane, heavy set No5, and a really lightly set No7.

I also think it's a little too tall. I can take it down 5" without much trouble, so I'll probably knock 2" off and see how that feels.

I don't see a picture.

Is it going to be sturdy enough though?

In all seriousness, looks awesome
Youve seen one or two of mine (three total...currrently), nothing as nice as what youve built

Love it. If you can't stand up on a work bench and jump up and down on it, it ain't strong enough! I think you're good

Damn. You got title of the thread right. That looks serious. Nice work.

That sucka’s gonna disrupt the normal rotation of Earth. :D

FE FI FO FUM,

is what I expect to hear in this shop.

Planning to have something to get under for a earthquake?

very Nice..

I do believe you'll have to cut it down. Your shoulders will thank you for it.
Working tools that High up you wont have much leverage. there's a lot of push and pull in a wood shop. Not like a kitchen at all.
If you have a table saw, I recommend you match the height.

And no, I don’t think it can... :D

I just took 3" off the legs, miiight take another inch off, but I'm pretty tall, gonna get it flat and work with it a little bit first, but it's not out of the question.

I’m 6’3” myself .
My table saw and bench sit at 37”
The chop saw at 39”

I’ve got a commercially available bench I bought recently that’s 36” high.
I’m 6’3” and don’t think I’d want mine any higher.

I see big lumber, but tell us about the joinery, I don’t see pegs.

It will do the job... In restaurant and bar construction we have a saying, "it has to be sturdy enough to f*** and fight on or it's not good enough." Just don't plan on moving anytime soon...

Now that is a bench and also Mirac's bench. :)

now put some holdfast/dog holes in that top and a removable moxon vise and you'll be in business. If you're into that kinda woodworking check out some of the books by Christopher Schwarz. He's probably forgotten more about woodworking, joinery and tools than i'll ever know, and I build furniture for a living.
