The fall Myrtle Beach Show is this weekend at the convention center. Historically this has always been a great show. My tables are always just inside the front door and there is a CFF Decal on one of my display cases. @BatteryOaksBilly will be joining me. Please stop by, spend some money and get dazzled by brilliant conversation. Unless something changes, the French fries are as good as you will get anywhere and the rest of the food is pretty darn good as well.

How much are sweet potato fries? 🤔

Just curious, will there be an NC FFL there to handle transfers?
What is special about being a NC FFL at a SC gun show. A FFL is a Federal License, I guess good in every state, but has to follow the rules of the State they are in, Correct??
Like a person from NC can't come to a gun show in MB, buy a Handgun from a dealer table, that has a store in NC, and take it with him?? You have to buy handguns in your state of residence, physically. Can 2 NC people do a handgun trade, legally, while in SC??
Can a NC dealer sell, or transfer, a handgun, to a NC resident, while working a table at a SC gun show, and the guy takes the handgun with him?

A NC resident can buy a gun from a SC resident and if there is a NC FFL there he can transfer it and the buyer take it home. I’ve seen it done several times. A FFL can buy from a seller no matter where they live. I don’t know why a NC resident couldn’t buy from a NC dealer and take it home, no matter where the transaction took place. I don’t know if these situations follow the letter of the law but it’s done at Shows all the time.

One part of the law mentions it being at the FFL’s place of business. But then the 4473 has a spot for the actual transaction being held at a qualifying gun show or event.

I haven’t been able to find the answer, but it does seem reasonable that it would be allowed if the FFL and buyer were residents of the same state, even if the qualifying event was in a different state. 🤔

I guess it could also be argued the show was his place of business that day since he rented the space

I don’t think that’s it, as that’s not the address on the FFL. And in that case, the buyer and the place of business are now in different states.

The FFL is allowed to transfer away from their business only in certain situations, which I’m sure you’re aware of. It can’t just be done anywhere.

It just doesn’t spell out the answer that applies to this specific scenario. I’d assume a dealer that does a lot of shows, especially one that does them out of state, would have this answer from their ATF contact. The fact that you’ve seen it done often leads me to believe it’s perfectly legal…but I don’t have any regulation/letter handy to prove that.

Pretty good show, I went yesterday. As others have said, the ammo were very high. Bought a SW hat for $10, and a plastic ammo crate, that's it.

Just finished unpacking. Great show overall. Saturday seemed a little slow based on what I saw leaving the show. Today was one of the busiest Sundays I can remember in years. Saw lots of guns being sold and the people walking in with guns for sale were asking realistic prices. Totally opposite from yesterday. I did not check any ammo prices, but I saw more ammo leaving today than I’ve seen since the Covid shortage. @BatteryOaksBilly hit the nail on the head, some dealers and private sellers were moving a lot of guns. Others just staring at the wall. It’s hard for the small dealers to compete with the big online distributors and mega stores like PSA, but buyers Don’t take a minute to think about the knowledge most small dealers offer versus the college kid in a big store that knows nothing more than to hand you something out of the case and tell you where to go do paperwork. Not to mention being able to buy a gun and walk out in 15 minutes compared to sometimes an hour or more in a large store. And normally you might save $15-20 after all the fees. Personally my time is worth more. Last, you need to visit the MYB show if for no other reason to get some French fries.
