Me and Gunny Williams. I had shown up lacking a row-and-half of ribbons and without any of my devices. Gunny gave me extra pushups every day for being out of uniform.
Another one of my instructors, a Senior Chief. We had Senior Chief, Gunny, and three officers. All of them were outstanding instructors.
Firing range for pistol quals. The instructors were retired from the Navy and were as good as any pistol instructor as I had. The Blue Angels were practicing overhead, which was loud and distracting (in a good way).
Swim qual. Easy-peasy. Jump in, swim a full lap, take off your clothes in the waters, turn trousers into floatation, tread water for 20 minutes, then out.
Me on the right looking studious, one of my roommates on the left dying trying to hold in a laugh because I just ripped a SBD.
More damage control. There were a lot of unmemorable parts of the school, but that was quality training.
