during the WuFlu:

People in North Carolina are apparently hitting the bottle while working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a survey by Fishbowl, a social network “for verified employees.”The survey, released Monday, questioned nearly 13,000 workers in all 50 states and found 47.7% of the people working from home in North Carolina admitted to drinking on the job.Oregon and Connecticut followed closely with 47.58% and 47.41%, respectively, the survey showed. Colorado and Washington came in next at 46%.

I drank otj in Europe. Big whoop.

Well, not really. But a beer or two at lunch was common.

Let's define 'drinking on the job'. The survey was "Yes/No" and only asked "Do you drink alcohol while working at home".

I might have a beer at lunch...but I do that while at the office as well.
I definitely have a beer or a cocktail while sitting on the couch at 9pm...but I might also be doing a bit of code review, answering email, working on projects....

But, no, I've never been drunk while also working.

The results are only accurate as they relate to people who use that social network. Meaningless fake news to everyone else.

Agreed.

I’ve never had a drop of alcohol while actually working from home but have drank during working hours so I’d have to answer that question as “yes”. Does it matter that my boss and colleagues are also drinking?

My company is encouraging leaders to host digital happy hours for their teams, so at 430 or 5p, we all dial in to a video call, talk about what we’re drinking and chat about anything under the sun. This is a replacement for the normal conversation you might have throughout the day so that we don’t completely lose the social aspect of work.

I would never believe such numbers unless they came from a Real News, trustworthy, verified source.

Like the CDC.

As South Carolina says, "Hold my beer and watch this!"

We'll have caught up to you by 5:00 today.

of course, it is possible that some who responded were "on call" 24/7,
so they were always on-the-job home or away every day.

Hey, I waited until 4pm today. c'mon man.
