i haven't seen any wild ones yet.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wildlife advocates say milder winters in North Carolina could be part of the reason an injured armadillo recently turned up in Charlotte. State officials began asking the public for help documenting North Carolina armadillo sightings in 2013, noting there had been confirmed sightings in some counties along the southwestern border of the state.

No good .... Something else to watch out for on the motorcycle... I remember them from Texas when we lived there.

I shot a couple on a hunting lease down in GA that's not far from the NC border.

Armadillo helmets can block the best brainwave scanners and make a pretty good soup bowl too.

I watched at dinner and drinking time as a couple of North Carolina drunk guys chased one that wondered into our lodge yard. If they can survive in the Ozark Mountains they will be fine in western NC.

Those things carry Mycobacterium leprae, the organism that causes leprosy. Relatively low risk, with only about 40 cases per year being linked to armadillos, but I think I'll settle for leavin' 'em for buzzard food.

Have a ton of them around here. One is trying to dig under our pasture fence but so far the dogs have kept it out

A co-worker of mine killed one on his property in Macon County out toward Standing Indian.

I’m in southern Oklahoma today. I’ll bring one back for lunch. They have grasshoppers here as big as birds.

They were known to hijack Lonestar beer trucks in Texas in the day also.

Ever run over one? We were making a quick run out to Hood after dark some years back. We had gotten on 190 and were in between Nolanville and Killeen when a pile of those things decided to run across the road. I swear we ran over at least 10 and it sounded like running over a bunch of big rocks with them banging the undercarriage of the truck. The guy I was riding with told me we likely didn’t hit all of them but they “jumped up” into the bottom of the truck and hit the axles, driveshaft, skidplate, etc. All I know is I was ready to pull over and start picking pieces out of the undercarriage but he kept right on driving with no real damage.
