NC Defense Attorney Gets Gun Stolen

"They're not going to able to sell it or pawn it..."

Yes, because that's the first thing every gun thief does with a new aquisition, attempt to sell it legally.

What a dummy. The biggest way people get stuff back is off of pawn shop sales. Even then most things are never found.

This part doesn’t make much sense either. Yes you are around a bunch of criminals, but when you are their attorney. You normally hold that title for the life of your business and then some. My wife never worried about the ones that came to her office, just the ones that were already in jail. When she was a prosecutor it was a lot different.

He said he usually keeps his handgun with him for protection. As a criminal defense attorney, he can often find himself dealing with strangers.

I can't read the article. Link broken. Yup, car is terrible place to leave a gun. I have a 3" 64 with an interesting history. It was stolen from it's prior owner's car, used in a Waffle House attempted robbery, and returned to the original owner, who in turn sold it to me with all the court paperwork.

On another note, @Steve Sellers, I didn't know that you were on here. Sending an email from my work account.

Agreed. He does not have a "security" problem. Failed to take basic steps. to leave the gun in the center console all the time is dumb. Overnight, outside? c'mon.

I rarely go anywhere, other than the courthouse, where carry is prohibited. I'll stash a gun DEEP in the car for short or unexpected trips into a courthouse. Somewhere that nobody will find it. Certainly, not the damned center console. I've also got no problem just leaving the gun at home if not traveling and need to be in court for most of the day.

I wouldn't be so hard on the guy but for his admission that this is a regular practice.

When you do have to bury your gun in the car, I'll bet it isn't overnight and I'll bet you remember to lock the car. If I did something like that, I sure wouldn't want to talk about it on television.

Ummm.. what part of defense attorney dont you get? He tries to convince people other people wern't wrong for a living. they love hearing themselves talk.

Aren't those pocket holsters with the trigger hole cut out illegal???
Not if it's still clearly a firearm. The ones that completely disguise it and leave a trigger hole are considered AOWs.
