NC Gun Collectors' Association Gun Show 2/3 - 2/4 in Statesville

I’m planning on being there Sat and maybe Sunday if there’s a need to return. I’m bringing a 80s vintage Smith model 41 in box and as new 4th gen Colt Cobra in the hard to find ultra-brite stainless steel. Probably also have a 32-20 Winchester 73 and a factory master engraved Colt SAA new old stock.

These are personal guns that I’m looking trade for other Colts. Could figure out how to edit post.

We plan on going Sat., I like this show even though I don't buy anything.

Parking question: Usually the Civic Center lot is full. There are a lot of spaces across the street around the Police Dept. and assorted businesses.

Do they frown on parking across the street?

There are public spaces along the street that are free on weekends if I recall

Indeed there are and like the parking lot, they are always full

ETA: This post was not meant to be snarky, sorry if it came across like that

Report:

This is a smallish show but it is chocked full of collectible firearms.

If you need 1903, 1903A3 or Garand parts, there was a guy along the back wall that had a lot. He even had 2 new in the wrap 1903A3 barrels.

I had a great time looking

My take on the collectors show today. It was packed and co plenty of variety. Never seen as many Garands. Visitors and tables it was very well attended. Talked with several vendors there I knew and sales were very slow with lots of folks having items to sell or trade. My personal observation was that many items were priced at a premium. Maybe be some better deals for visitors tomorrow.

Holy moly guys, glad ya posted on this, I didn't realize it was time for it again! Last one was the first time I went and it was great, now got to somehow figure out how to force myself into the car tomorrow!

First, sober up....Ok that's optional.

Slide out of the recliner, shower (again optional) and haul you butt out the door. It isn't that hard, crawl into the car

It will be fun to get out of the basement.

That was Eric Johnson's table. I ran into him at dinner tonight and he asked me if I went to the show and told him no, but that I had seen some reports about the show and that one guy in the back had a bunch of military parts and some new '03 barrels in the wrap. He said yep, that was me and one guy bought both barrels.

He said there will be a SC show where the Columbia and Greenville shows are combined along with a military vehicle show around Mar. 15. I believe this is the one he was referring to. Said there will be 3 buildings open.

I wonder what the barrels went for. I don't need one so I didn't ask

He also had a bunch of Garand barrels

Can somebody please tell me the name of the big(ish) vendor that is set up near the back left corner. I see them at most every "collector" show around, and have chatted with them a few times, but their shop name escapes me right now. I do remember the fella's name is Andrew. I think there was a big black banner hanging over their tables. I snagged an old S&W autoloader from him this time around and forgot to jot down his contact info for my notes. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I was tied up with family stuff on Saturday, but did make the trek to Statesville this morning. I usually try to get to a gun show on Saturday morning as soon as they're open, when the tables are "fresh". I saw a few interesting things, but didn't bring one home. I was wondering if all the vendors that were set up on Saturday typically were there on Sunday?

Yeah, I thought it over, and you were right. That was asking alot.

So I ended up at the last minute deciding to set the backyard on fire. Much less expensive and Ill be able to see the daffodils this year with an unobstructed view.

It was nice getting outside of the basement. A few more times and I can soon transition from welding mask to sunglasses. And maybe not get so sunburned.

Nice guy, I bought 5 20 round AR mags from him.

.

I haven't been to one of these shows. Is it mostly blued steel and wood or is it mostly plastic guns? I like the older stuff.

modern stuff has migrated to this event, but the core is still bluesteel and wood
at times some of the displays are wonderful, was a great one this time on Savage

There are several retail dealers of course but the most interesting items to me are the private collections. There are always a lot of military items and also antiques. Many of the NC GCA members have booths there and share their knowledge.
