NC Real ID

I had to do it ... basically just make sure you have your Social Security Card, your certified Birth Certificate and your Auto Insurance Card with your name and address on it along with your current DL and you should be good to go. Now you are not required to get the Real ID Gold Star for a NC Drivers License BUT it will say "Not for Ferderal ID" on it if you don't and federal agencies like TSA and DoD will not accept it as the Real ID thing phases in.

ETA: My wife has not done it yet but she has been advised to carry our marriage license since the name on her birth certificate obviously doesn't match her SS card, DL or our Auto Insurance Cards.

She will have to request a new SS card and update her SS records to her married name. NC DMV checks name against SS records. That is why my wife now a all 4 names on her license rather than just her fist, middle, and paternal sir name. In PR the BC has both parents paternal last name on it. So does her SS record.

Her SS card and record does have her married name ... it matchs all documents from insurance to vehicle and voter registration to tax and financial accounts ... only her BC had her maiden name it.

Wanna vote? Sure come on in!

Want to board a damn plane you just shelled out $$$$ for? Yeah.. you can, but we're gonna need your drivers license, passport, dhs global entry, airline id, worker permit, blah, blah, blah.

I need a real job. This is getting ridiculous.

Then she is good. BC is to verify citizenship. SS info verifies name.

They should also include the CCW status. so you don't have to carry the other card. Ohh!, Also be able to tie it to your debit card so that you only ever have to carry one card ever!

How do I get the patent on that?
How about just simplifying it to a barcode tattoo on your arm?

Or get a chipo implanted in your hand like the Wisconson company is planning
https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech...ll-rice-sized-microchips-employees/503867001/

It identifies them for access and can even be used to buy food. Not there yet but in the future I can see that it will tell the employer how long you were working vs taking breaks and maybe start collecting medical information so they can adjust your insurance rates.

You knew someone was going to post it.

Revelation 13:16-17

16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

If things do not fall apart before it happens, I can foresee a time, in the near future, when those of us who refuse to no longer be chipped and tracked will be shunned from society.

Missouri's been doing that for years - CCW is simply an additional marking on the DL or state ID.

I haven't heard of REAL IDs before...

I ordered new NCDLs for the family after our address changed last month. The new ones came with all the pretty colors of a $100 bill, and this written across the top.

Mine is monopoly money colored like yours but it doesn't have that written on it...
Same here
Your next one will unless you take your additional ID to DMV to get a "Real ID". You'll have to have additional ID to fly, apparently. I don't have any idea when this is supposed to go into effect.

2018 if I'm not mistaken

I have to add my middle name to my social security card before I can get the real ID.

Can't you just use a passport or passport card? I have both. Pretty sure that's enough federal ID...

Dang if I know. I barely leave this area code except for pistol matches anymore.

I believe you can. I prefer to use that anyway because it doesn't have a bunch of information on it that they have no business knowing.
