NC Trooper in critical condition after MC crash

Sorry for the injured officer but whoever it is that thinks cops should be on duty riding a motorcycle is nuts, especially in Charlotte, a hazard even if riding in a truck. A damn Prius would be better, at least there is a little protection. The medical costs as well as the future upkeep of this officer could buy a fleet of automobiles.

That's terrible to hear. Prayers for his recovery.

I hate to hear this and I hope he makes it through. I saw traffic backed up in that area this morning but thought it was construction.

Anyone seen this guy?

I dunno about that vehicle but around 2pm they were chasing someone connected with this crash on foot into the woods near Ashley Park / Freedom Drive.

Got nailed while going through a red light.
Based on the photos and video, it looks like he nailed the truck. The news repeatedly said that the truck hit the trooper, but I can't see how that could have happened given the damage to the truck.

That said, I hope they find the suspect vehicle and driver.

What I was thinking also ... he hit the driver side front quarter just in front of the wheel and appears to have hit with enough force it bent the front suspension on that wheel.

I bought my klr650 from a trooper in that area last April. He was new to riding and practicing with the klr to get on the motorcycle squad.

Oof. That's a horrible idea. Sometimes a bike is the right tool for the po-po, but I've known experienced patrol cops who said there's no way in hell they'd do motors. Said it's dangerous enough surrounded by 4000 lbs of patrol car.

Hope the Trooper recovers.
