I've been getting a lot of questions from my listeners about what they should be doing to prep for the Section match. Since I basically only ever shoot club matches, I'm curious to know what you're doing.

15 minutes a night of grip, draw (different hand positions and uprange turns) and sight picture.

Then shooting every match I can get to on Saturdays before. Live fire practice on Sundays for a couple hundred rounds

You know Luke since I emailed you a few weeks ago I went back and watched more video and looked at the results and Ive learned a few things about myself that Im going to try and implement at the match.

1) dont go balls to the wall on the first stage. Stage 1 is typically where my Mikes and no shoots come from.

2) build confidence after the first stage and live inside the box

As far as prepping, same stuff as before, just adding in more 90°/180°work that indoor ranges cant offer

I cleaned my new gun, adjusted the new holster height and did some dry fire. Hoping I can get to the range or at least shoot my tiny local match so I know the bullets go straight. Rain again this weekend so who knows if that will happen.

Dryfire. Unloaded starts, table starts. Etc. Upping the exercise. 9 stages can turn into a stamina test.

1000 rounds livefire a week minimum. Still trying to ease back into dryfire.

Well no longer working on unloaded and table starts. (After seeing the stages) Transitions and quick movements now.

Looks like it will be all dry fire for me. Local match basically shut down till Sept do to flooding and I don't have time tp drive 1hr 45mins+ to hit another match.

Hopefully I can at least shoot the new gun to make sure it works (really dont like indoor ranges anymore or actually any range at this point, guess I will have to suck it up one of these days).

thats pretty cool they send out the stages in advance, and Brad is the official photographer

Throwing in some strong/weak hand only stuff

Getting one more match in before the NC Sectional, perusing the match book for basic ideas about the stages, and making sure my gear is ready.

Plan on some live fire practice Sunday. Never transitioned to a box to shoot SHO/WHO. Going to try it out.

Been slacking bad on dry fire, will step that up.

If I can drag myself up live fire tomorrow. SHO/WHO definitely on the agenda.

And work on distance accuracy cause last weekend was just embarrassing.

"High Fatty" isn't a category.
I've started a division with in a division where we score the same way and then multiply by the pounds of the shooter. So let's say that Daniel shots a 6.2 hit factor and weighs 200 lbs. His score on that stage is 1240 points. The same stage I shoot a 5.8 hit factor multiplied by 290lbs is 1682 points. I WIN!!!!

I'm kicking yo ass in that one! My multiplier will be around 320!

The savagery is strong with this one.

I counted it up, and since my surgery in June I've shot 8400 rounds in practice trying to get my body and trigger finger back in shape. It's not going to be right in time for the Sectional, but I'm going to give it a go as hard as I can. I'm planning to livefire another 2500 rounds in the next 2 weeks. After that state match I'm going to need another break.

Been practicing a lot leading up to State. Four hour long dry fire sessions and one 500 round practice session each week with matches on the weekend. My hands and legs are getting sore. So I'm taking this weekend off to go relax at my family's lake house. Don't forget to give yourself some R&R before the big show. All work and no play makes a cranky shooter.

What's your schedule during those 4 hours?

I like @FatboyFlash am fully prepared. I have not even test fired my new gun. I have done about 5 minutes of dry fire (adjusting the drop of the new holster). I do have mags, ammo, a holster, a positive attitude, a hotel room, and what I hope will be enough ammo for the match.

Work, ugh.

I will dry (or wet?) fire beers if I get to take the boat out tomorrow or next weekend. Try to get a little dry fire time in between a possible nap and before the wife and kids get home (if I am lucky enough to get home before them). Hopefully have time to hit a range to test fire the new gun also.

Either way, I am going to have a great time, finally able to shoot, seeing people I rarely see, and having some alone time (not bringing any family with me).

If I suck, I suck, if I don't, I don't. I just need some time away from work at this point. My competitive side will be cussing myself out, I am sure though.

I will see some of you Thursday, and the rest over Fri -Sun when I am working the match. I will have done what I can to get ready for the match, and probably wish I had shot the match Revolver Division instead of Single Stack. I plan to enjoy both shooting the match and working it.

After shooting the Low Country match Saturday, I felt that I had a good match overall. I had a bad classifier match several months back, and I have been digging my way out of that debacle since. I think possibly I have managed to "right the ship" and get into C class (yea I had that bad of a classifier match). I figured that I needed a 51% at least to get my classification to C class, and I believe that I made a 58+% on the classifier at the match.

I've stepped up my game in preparation. I have doubled my caloric intake and cut way back on exercise. It was almost nonexistent before but now I think I'm doing so little that it's acting as a multiplier for the calories that I'm taking in!
