    We Need Your Input!

    Sunday Hunting on Game Lands

In July 2017, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) was granted authority to allow Sunday hunting on public lands via the Outdoor Heritage Enhanced Act. The WRC has been gathering data and public input to help inform this decision.

The WRC is currently seeking your participation in a survey, from now through February 2, to help identify issues and options related to Sunday hunting on game lands. The information you provide will help the agency better understand how the public uses game lands. This information will also be used to inform discussions at state-wide Sunday hunting forums to be held in February.

The survey, linked below, should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. Thank you, in advance, for your participation.

Although Sunday hunting is not my thing, it is already allowed on private land. So if they will let some do it I think all should be allowed to. I will support it by filling out the survey.

We used to horseback ride the game lands, and had folks ride our land on Sundays, if idiots will shoot a person in orange, they'll unload on a deer that large.
We also ride dirt bike & 4 wheelers, folks love to get into the woods when the temperature and bug levels drop, during hunting season, Sunday's the safe day.
Plus if you ride/walk on Sundays you're not going to unwillingly ruin a hunter's day.

I'm not making an argument one way or the other. Just trying to understand what is the difference between now and 20 years ago. I never had the option of hunting on Sunday and never gave it a second thought. It just wasn't allowed and wasn't a thing. I hunted all I wanted to and was never without a job in 50 years. Some jobs required me to work an occasional weekend which gave me 2 days off during the week, others were strictly Mon. thru Fri. and we hunted on Saturday and holidays. There were always vacation days that were taken during hunting season. So how is it so different now that people are so up in arms about being able to hunt on Sunday. Sorry if I sound argumentative because I'm not, I just don't see why it is such a big thing now and wasn't previously.

Probably because you have been able to hunt with a bo2 on Sunday for nigh on 10 years now, and now with a gun, only on private land. Just not land owned or managed by the taxpayers. For mostly stupid reasons like "I ride muh horse, don't wanna get shotttt".

Funny that a man can fish, smoke dope, drink beer, chase hoes, watch the foosball etc all on Sunday but someone says "huntin on Sunday" and it drags up every Bible thumping anti argument.
