I'd like to add a brake to my CZ 527 6.5 Grendel Varmint. It is thread and it would look a little better with some thing slick hanging up front. But I have no clue about brakes or threads. I didn't realize there are different thread patterns. Also don't know anything about brakes. And I can't find the thread pattern for this rifle anywhere.

Anybody have a clue or advice?

And that will thread on my CZ ok?
I’d think it was 5/8-24 but I’ve been wrong before
Yeah, that should be the thread pitch, but you'd need to confirm it to be sure.

Unlike pistols, you usually don't have to worry about standard vs metric and RH vs LH threads.

5.56 is usually 1/2-28...and everything above that up to 7.62 is usually 5/8-24. But there are some oddball things like 6.8 (maybe Stag and YHM) barrels being threaded 1/2-36.

Guess I'll have to call CZ since their manual and website tell me zippo.
Yeah, I looked around at a couple sites and none of them listed thread pitch in the specs...which is odd.

Wonder if the Varmint barrel is the same as the MTR? When I zoom in the image blurs. Can anyone read what the MTR says for the threading?

M18x1. I’d still call and ask to make sure if yours isn’t a mtr

Only thing I can find in that pitch is either the SiCo Harvester one or this one:

Sorry, I saved the wrong image from the website but changed it now.

If yours isn’t an mtr I’d call to check before ordering

Yep. Figured I'd call CZ this week. Thinking a few different projects and trying to decide which order to do them. @JRHorne that Hellfire sounds well liked and pretty nice. Thanks.

Pardon my ignorance but what does that mean? Thought all the brakes I looked at had numbers like 9x24 or something. Or being Czech do they have to be difficult?
Uggh...so it's the exception to the rule. :D

1/2-28 would be 1/2" diameter and 28 threads per inch (TPI). That's what you get with standard 5.56 and also 9mm. The metric thread equivalent would be M13 or M13.5...just like your 13mm wrench and 1/2" wrench are almost interchangeable. The difference with metric threads (at least with handguns) is the metric are usually left-hand threads.

M18x1 is 18mm. Usually with a rifle, they'll be RH thread. I didn't look at the pic above too close to see if it mentioned it.

...and while we're at it, thanks for properly using "brake" instead of "break". :D

My scorpion is metric so I figured that's what your rifle would be. Pain in the ass for sure.

CZ learned their lesson on that one at least. ;)

According to some people on the Grendel Forum it is 5/8x24. Going to have to call CZ before doing any thing. Unless I spend my gun money elsewhere first.
