I have my 22/45 MK IV setup with an RMR that is mounted to the picatinny rail that came with the gun. The problem (albeit not a big one) is that it sits up very high on the gun. So I was researching different options, and came across the outer impact mount. This would lower the optic a good bit, but I don't know if it is worth it considering the cost of the mount (~$45) and that I used red loctite (I know, I know, I should have used blue) on the rail screws because they kept backing out. So what would you do? Is the small decrease in optic height worth attempting to heat the receiver and removing the screws? Has anyone had any experience removing red loctite screws in aluminum receivers?

This is how it is setup:

The rail screws to receiver of the pistol you use red?

Get a flat plate, water and antifree bring it up to almost boiling and let it soak.

Red Loctite ... take an electric soldering iron and hold it to the screw to heat it up. You'll need to let it heat up more than a few seconds (red turns loose at about 425-450°) and you can break it loose.

Yes, the screws that mount the rail to the receiver. Can you explain this a bit more in detail? Sorry, I'm just not following what you are saying.

Sorry. Basically take antifreeze and put it in a pot. bring it up to almost boiling and put the receiver in it.

I like the soldering iron idea. The only thing I would add is a tight fitting bit into the stuck screw and a lil tap or two after heating. TAP....maybe use a brad hammer if your tapping skills are challenged....lol. You'll get her ass!
